When I began my journey into the quality sound home audio land, my initial intention was to build a system that would be able to reproduce the most awesome, house foundation rocking bass. As my experience with the sound deepened and my gear kept getting better, I found myself abandoning the nether regions of the bass and gravitating towards the upper region, that of the highs, ruled by the tweeters. I've morphed from being an ass man to becoming a tits man. I was getting obsessed with big boobs:)

However, I find myself today mostly obsessing about the mid range (the vaginal region?) I need to get me as much mid range texture and fragrance as possible, even if at the expense of a deep bass or crystalline highs.

So what kind of a man are you?

Hmm. I think I like a balance, really. The mids are really where it's at, for ultimate (musical) pleasure, but you need a nice top end to accentuate the mid(riff?) and I have to admit a nice, rounded (b)ass end is entirely complementary. A flabby (b)ass, or even an overblown mid, can upset things for me, so need to be balanced - but I must admit, a couple of perky tweeters goes a long way to happiness.

Now, on a similar vein - bi or straight?*

i must say i do like seismic bass especially when listening to those deep organ pieces but texture and presence very important too so still an `ass man`

Don't be so hard on others, Adam. Not everyone can contribute so much valuable content to this forum as you do. It's not my fault if I'm not as passionate about audio as you are.

However, I believe it's still my prerogative to keep trying...

There is no going back once you have experienced a decent sized loudspeaker with a 15 inch or bigger bass unit with a big amp I am afraid I am hooked .I couldnt care less about prissy top end Coz my hearing is going anyway from too many live concerts.

I don't know about shifting large quantities of air, but control is the key to attaining meaningful results in tight spaces. Really, even 6" is enough, and and going beyond 8" would require a bigger box than I'm interested in.
If you're wanting good bass in a tight space then big drivers that go deep can cause horrible problems, smaller drivers that don't go deep can be better. The real solution though is room treatment & DSP for the bass - standing waves will be the big issue. Control of the drivers is vital but easily achieved, standing waves could make you think the drivers are not being controlled but it's the room that'll be the problem.

ok....I guess when I'm scanning posts quickly I can miss the true meaning. Either way 6" is way to small.

Due to my musical preferences, I do on occaison like a bit of bass. However I absolutely detest any kind of bass that goes "boom, boom, boom" like so many cheap car stereos that one hears when walking up the high street.

Bass needs to be articulate, dynamic and very tight.
Often it isnt noticed or heard at all, until that moment where the lower registers take control are felt in your rib cage.

So going back to the original analogy, more Keira Knightly than J-lo

Silly question really as the full appreciation of music requires the whole frequency spectrum. However, a system that does not do midrange transparency and proper voicing gets short shrift from me.

You didn't understand the question, Sir. Even when the whole frequency spectrum is present, different audio systems tend to favor different areas of that spectrum: some emphasize the bass, some emphasize the highs, etc. My question was: if you had to choose, which would it be?
