It is now Tuesday the 22nd June 2010 and I've just finished looking at the TV listings for today. All day today for the whole of the daylight hours Channel 4 is showing repeats. I have lost BBC1 to all of this football shite and I have also lost BBC2 to all of this tennis shite so, where does this leave us that want to watch quality TV...? I have now lost 50% of the BBC to which I suposedly pay my licence fee so am I to believe on that basis I get a 50% refund...? Somehow I doubt it. Why ar we paying to subsidise a minority...?

Hi,I totally agree,how can they have the face to put on so many repeats,cable tv is even worse sometimes the same shite is on everyday or night.A weeks tv guide will last for months

Sell your tv, stop paying your tv licence, buy a pc and stream only the programmes you want to watch... Google tv will be here soon too...

Now that sounds like a great solution, and one instance where I applaud the benefits of new technology! :)

All commercial television is paid for by advertising. Regardless of owning a TV, or paying for the license, you pay for the programmes whether you like it or not. The cost of car advertising adds £2000 -£3000 to the price of a car.

Ditching the TV won't help - you still pay for the cost of advertising through these costs being passed on to the consumer, and that includes all goods: food; toothpaste; cleaning products and cars as mentioned.

An audit was done many years ago; the results of which showed that the viewer got better value for money from their TV license, than they did through the advertising revenue stream.

Look's like there's no way out.

Well I have been reading more, writing more and listening to music more.

I agree though it seems those who have no interest in sport are taking a very large hit in terms of viewing hours. All the schedules are messed up and fave shows removed in favour of football and Tennis.
