Hi all

This is a just wondering post

My turntable is Thorens TD-160 Mk1 with TP-16 tone arm, the turntable is generally well regarded, the tonearm not so.

So thinking of a cost effective (read I am skint) upgrade I can get a used Linn Basik LV X arm at a reasonable price. Will it be a worthwhile change, is the basik better, worse or the same as the TP-16.

Thanks for any input on this

Paul

Downgrade you mean surely? The TP16 is the better arm by far, the LV X is cheap, nasty and inadequate.

A used Rega RB arm of any iteration would be an improvement.

Rega RB250 but you'll need a new arm board, have to grind a small bit out the chassis and either use shims or a VTA adjuster. The RB250 works a treat with the DL110 on a TD160.
