software mods to the Touch to improve sound quality.

Script files to copy over to your Touch which:
Turn off non essential services at startup reducing CPU load
Switch off analogue outputs if using digital and vice versa
Other stuff I don't understand!

takes 5 minutes and easily reversible with a factory reset.
Doesn't break anything.
These things are always worth a try?

Tried this last night and it WORKS
Into my BDac my Touch sounds better..

Nice...
Not doing any hardware mods..except maybe later trying a different PSU..

You need a wired connection not wifi. Is that right Gaz?

Yeah Jerry, I think it turns wifi off..
Well worth it though..it passes the "john swenson" test over on the Touch forums (john being one of the main beta testers/audio gurus over there) and that was good enough for me
to try it.
More detail coming through and a better sense of people playing together rather than everything being seperate, more foottapping bacause of this Id say?

he says disconnecting the touch display brings even more improvement, but that's too hardcore for me!

The TeddyPardo linear psu though...that's not.
Bit pricey though need to look at building a kit.

All good stuff for future upgrades..I'm still enjoying the Touch as it is.

I'm glad you find your system better with the suggested mods. I'm not disbelieving you, but I found the posting by Kuja within the site you mentioned - http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?p=556585#post556585 very entertaining.

Hey Dave,
yeah those links were pretty entertaining.
The Peter Belt stuff is pretty notorious for being uhm...a bit mad?

Not really relevant but a good laugh.

These things ALWAYS dredge up the old arguments and are pretty contentious by nature, but teh changes made to the Touch here kinda make sense as something that would affect the digitial stream leaving the Touch hitting the Dac?

And no...its NOT just 1's and 0's....;)

Try it and see...it wont break anything and who knows, it might even work!

Hi Gaz

I check the SB forum most days and stumbled across this thread this morning, sounds interesting. I may give it a go tonight if I have time.

Are you going to try some of the hardware mods? I'm going to build a Teddyreg and bypass the output coupling caps at some point.

Hey you're not the only one!

I'm in the middle of building a Pass F5 power amp at the moment so I'd like to finish that first. I haven't made a T-Reg before but the schematic looks straight forward enough. Puffin (Rob) is playing around with them at the moment and seems to be having success.

If the results are worth the effort I'll be more than happy to help out.
