Acoustic Energy Advice Please

Does anyone have experience or opinions of the Acoustic Energy Reference 1's..? I am considering them to replace my Spendor s3/5R2's.

The current speakers are leaving me a bit flat and uninspired. Their midrange is so bloody good but they leave me flat and uninspired.

I found s3/5rs to be flat as well, same with the Spendor floorstanders I also once tried. I think they are mean't for small scale acoustic listening.

LOL that's amazing but I came to the very same conclusion. Simple acoustic music, nothing that taxes anything too much. Love their imaging and vocal sound but not much of anything else.
