Hi

Just wondering if there are any benefits to not removing the transit clamp completely from the 401 when it is in use (besides not losing/ misplacing it!). Thanks in advance.

I dont have a 401 but i removed the transit brackets on my Jap deck. Just put in a small bag & taped it to the back of the baseboard..

I have used a 401 since my early twenties, I’m now 69. Why would you want to remove the transit clamp? I can’t see any benefits in removing it!
Mike.

Some report the deck sounds better without it.

Ok, but I assume no negatives in terms of performance if it is removed?

Well mine hook under a fly section inside the plinth, The deck is springy & the brackets are a bit close so removed em

Just remove it, your deck will still work. It may be beneficial removing the clamp as it may transmit vibration in the platter.
