New year, will it be same old same, or will global warming make it the predicted next ice age..
well its 4c, and feels like 1c..sunny tho... so yes, its an ice age compared to Australia where its hell on earth..
Well, it's 9C here, and I'm sitting in blazing sunshine, with a t-shirt on and no heating... Haven't lit the fire yet, but will do when the sun goes down. Defo no "ice age", though;)

That's because you're a real man. Me, I'm in a thermal vest and nice warm shirt, though I am sitting in my office, in bright sunshine. This morning was like the end of the world but around 1 o/c the sun came out and it's luvverly.

went to livy and it got nasty on way back. temp dropped 2c in a couple of mins and icy rain fell. rd got a bit slippy

Feels colder to me than the actual temperature suggests. I think i'm just fed up of winter already.
Flat roof extension where I was working yesterday had a giant hole in the roof awaiting a lantern roof installed, and I was fitting some bifolds to the giant hole in the back wall. Customers dog, used to getting into the garden that way, ran straight into the glass, which the owner found quite funny. Not so amusing was that the dog decided to pee indoors overnight. And combined with all the rain that came through the roof last night meant that I spent much of this morning knelt in diluted dog piss.
The smell coming off my work pants when sat in the van almost put me off my butties. But not quite.

A heap of snow heading our way for next week by looks of it... N England will likely get it later too.. Ive popped an order into Tesco for basics grub. Got plenty in freezer etc so just staples and few meals.. Talking 15" of snow:doh:
Time to batten down the hatches mate, and hibernate:)
We've always got stacks of food in as spare. We could probably live off of soup, rice and pasta for MONTHS, without going near a shop, let alone anything else!;) And the coal bunker and log store are full, so the house will be nice and toasty, too....

Where as im a Psycho with serious OCD & Bi-Polor issues but you wouldnt think butter melts in my gob :lol:
Been a ghastly start to day.. Very windy and wet. A lot of water on rds. At 9.30 it was so dark on Rd driving it was like night.

A bit breezy on the west coast this morning
Wet this morning. Dry now but cold.
Was 8C here earlier, so pretty mild for the time of year. Warm enough for me to go out in just a sweatshirt/jeans (no jacket)... Dry but cloudy. Anyway, took my dad out to one of our favourite country pubs (13th century drover's inn), 25 mins drive from our door: https://theswaninnpontfadog.com/
The food is superb (all locally-sourced produce, expertly cooked), and very quaint and cosy inside. We were sat just across from the roaring log fire, enjoying a couple of pints of local real ale, and some of the finest fresh trout and game pie we've tasted!!:eek::cool:

Traditional Cullen Skink Soup.

Vegetarian Haggis Stuffed Mushrooms.

Raspberry Cranachan or Clootie Dumpling.

Small Scottish Cheese Platter with Oatcakes.
Four courses for £22.95 P/P.
Great value and nice veggie options for Del - should be a nice vibe too, with all the locals in:)

Yeah, good value though, innit? And the quality of the food I had today was superb, so it augurs well. I love both Cullen Skink and Haggis with Whisky sauce, not to mention Cranachan!:D

I once had skink soup, made with real skink legs. Have you ever seen a skink? No wonder it was so watery :(

Well, the venison I had today in the game pie came from Scotland (they get it brought down), so given their attention to detail and striving for quality/originality, I wouldn't be surprised if Finnan haddie was used in the Skink:)

I was anticipating sampling some nice 'pub grub' in a pub out Colchester way last week (the area was proper picture postcard with thatched cottages etc.) but was sorely disappointed by 'The Shepherd' http://www.shepherdlangham.co.uk/
Minimalist decor, no heating (we complained) & a thoroughly pretentious menu (8 quid for a sandwich? You can poke it!).
Needless to say we didn't bother eating there.

Well the weather turned out to be dry but chilly on our visit to Skipton's record fair. Didn't get the Zappa record I wanted (didn't expect to) but got minty copies of David Bowie's "Heroes" and Bob Marley "Exodus" both replacing my old copies which I owned and subsequently lost (got nicked). So all in all a good day :)
Pretty crap day here, weather-wise, dull cold and windy (not raining yet), but it's quite dark, so an ideal day for lighting the log burner, getting nice and cosy, closing the curtains and enjoying some good movies, whilst the great unwashed/headless chickens are out at work!:D;)

Was a bit of snow in with the rain yesterday morning. Just rain this morning.. Day off today Got some plastering to do in the bathroom before i fit a new shower..

Ha... We have lots of very large (old and established) trees in our garden, so post-autumn whenever there has been high winds, it always results in a fairly extensive clean up job of dead leaves (you're talking two highly-compressed, full green-bin loads), particularly as Del doesn't like our sizeable lawn covered in leaves - one reason why I like the snow, as it hides the bugger!:D
What's on the cards for today? I haven't decided yet, as I'm just up:eyebrows: The most 'pressing' concern is to dispose of this toffee crisp, which is threatening to make ab immediate and inopportune appearance, then make breakfast! But later the car's due a wash/wax and a full valet, so to do it right, that's a good 3 hours work on its own.
I'll be thinking of you though, up your ladder, so stay warm:)

I think Edinburgh is forecast to be slightly less cold than That London tomorrow, that doesn't happen very often. I'm forecasting a duvet day for the southern jessies :D
