Fabulous sounding Spendor SP100 R2 speakers for sale, on Ebay for £2750, on offer here for £2550. Only selling as I have another pair in the cherry finish that my wife prefers. Collection only from Eastbourne, without stands and packing. These are the latest but one version which now costs ahttps://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49277954042_35c9200498_k.jpg (https://flic.kr/p/2i5woVh)IMG_4608 (https://flic.kr/p/2i5woVh) by https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49277329973_e0ead03121_k.jpg (Alan Chamberlain, on Flickrround £8500 sohttps://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49277751746_b45337314f_k.jpg (https://flic.kr/p/2i5vmMq)IM[url=https://flic.kr/p/2i5sX3C]https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49277281668_9e52f2b51f_k.jpg (https://flic.kr/p/2i5vmMq)IMG_4610 (https://flic.kr/p/2i5sX3C) by Alan Chamberlain (https://www.flickr.com/photos/nispo/), on FlickrG_4617[https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49310824806_6f8c338c2a_k.jpg (https://flic.kr/p/2i8qSfA)IMG_5024 (https://flic.kr/p/2i8qSfA) by Alan Chamberlain (https://www.flickr.com/photos/nispo/), on Flickr/url] by Alan Chamberlain (https://www.flickr.com/photos/nispo/), on Flickr my price seems reasonable to me.

The last photo shows a pretty insignificant scratch (made several times worse by the flash) -otherwise they're perfect and it's just the one speaker

Lovely speakers just got some Sonus faber concertos and stands otherwise would have been very interested.

P.S. the full text is there but the pictures have come between it. In case you can't make it out, the latest version (these are the ones before) costs around £8500. Reason for not sending them is that the original boxes are not available and in any case the cost of transport and full insurance would, in most cases, probably exceed petrol costs. Lastly, I got them directly from Spendor about 2 years ago (ex-demonstration) and they had been thoroughly tested.

Mmmmmm. Great speakers at a very good price. Real end game speakers these.

Nice those. I think Marco used to own an older vintage pair of 100's

Bump - thanks for the positive comments. They really are fantastic speakers at less than 30% of the very latest model which is probably hardly any different. Yes, they are still expensive but as Graham says they are real end game speakers.

Crazy bargain, if I was not happy with my speakers these would be on my radar. To my ears nicer than usual BBC derived speakers as they forego the typical restraint for a more generous sound and can do rhythm. Massive soundstage that can fill a big space.
Real stars.
Someone buy them and keep them in AOS :)

I agree - an absolute bargain when the new price is considered for what is essentially the same as the new model (simply called Classic I think) but it’s still a lot of money and some may still be reeling from the expense of Christmas.

I actually have a buyer but I have been stuck in Spain for 4 months because of the virus so I’m not absolutely sure he is still hanging on. But in any case shipping them is out of the question.

Hi Al, lucky in some ways I have to admit but by the time we get back it will have been nearly 6 months
Lucky you :D and the grass at home is probably 2 feet high with a fair old collection of weeds. But it would definitely be churlish to complain - hope you’re well.

There are no boxes available as the OP said. Spendor may be able to supply them at a not inconsiderable cost if you're that desperate and assume all risk in transit. But that's up to the OP.

Thanks Lawrence - that’s what I was going to tell Vernon. I have original boxes but I really want to keep them for my other pair. New boxes can no doubt be acquired but they will be quite expensive. And if I am able to ship them in original packing I would want that to be the end of my responsibility as a seller.

Get the buyer to instruct his shippers to collect and make some crates for them

Bank transfer in full for the speakers , NO PAYPAL

Bump - Price without stands if not required (but with original packing) would be £2550. Could possibly be couriered (at buyer's risk) although the cost plus insurance would almost certainly exceed petrol costs. And whether I have the strength to lift them into the packing is another thing.

Bump - not the best time to be selling big speakers I know but they’re a terrific bargain with original packing, stands (optional) and almost perfect condition.

BUMP. I thought I had sold them on Ebay for £2850 but it turned out the buyer was from Vietnam although they were collection only and cash on collection only. So they are still available at the reduced, bargain price of £2600 to include stands (which would cost around £400) and original packing. Maybe not the absolute bargain of the century but not far off!!

Thank you for your kind words - I totally agree. My unwillingness to send them shouldn't really be a disincentive as petrol costs would almost certainly be far less than the cost of transport (4 boxes in total because of the stands) plus insurance and would the insurers really pay up if they damaged them? And I always wonder what would happen if just one speaker got irreparably damaged?

Price for just the speakers? I have my own stands for these.

Sorry Vernon, the speakers were sold 2 days ago to someone in the U.K. who transferred the money, arranged the courier himself so all I had to do was get them into their boxes - fortunately everything went well and naturally the wife is happy that I only have one pair of speakers now - the latest Spendor Classic 100 which I absolutely love. Once again, sorry Vernon and many thanks to all those that showed interest.

Congratulations, I'm glad these have gone to someone who will undoubtedly love them. I carefully considered bringing these 'home' myself.

Thank you for your kind words - maybe we’ll meet up one day as you’re so near when life returns to normality (we have to assume that normality will return one day!) The buyer was in fact delighted with the speakers and I only sold them because a forum member on one of the other sites acquired the Classic 100s for a bargain price and I got them from him for even less as he was expecting a new male addition to the family (and boys can be a little too inquisitive) - and he was able to deliver them personally. So it’s all worked out really well.

Great result Alan, out of interest, how do you find the classic 100 compared to the sp100r2?
I too think the Classic 100 are fantastic. Huge scale, bass you feel and they really boogie along. One of the best speakers I have heard.

Vernon's just had a post deleted. One more like that again from him and he'll be banned. We operate a zero-tolerance policy to blatant thread craps on sales threads here, so bear that in mind!!!

Many thanks Marco - I didn’t actually see Vernon’s post but doubtless it was because I didn’t want to send them to America and I had explained my reasons to him at great length. I either wanted personal collection or for the buyer to arrange collection and thereby assume all responsibility for damage, which is what actually happened.

Totally justified Alan, i've posted hifi in the UK and abroad, touch wood i've never had anything damaged with internal postage, however international is completely different, i've had kit go missing, look like it's been thrown off of a tall building and everything in between and trying to claim on insurance is so complicated especially with older kit where you may not have original receipts of what it cost you or the item may well be worth more now than it was 30 years ago, to say it's a minefield is an understatement, plus if you use paypal they are on the buyers side all the time and you can end up out of pocket for months while the insurance goes through.

As you can imagine i will not post internationally anymore and like you for things like speakers and turntables prefer collection or for the buyer to take on the responsibility of postage and insurance.
