Best budget headphones under £100-200

Can anyone recommend a pair of wired headphones - budget is £100-200.

Not for serious listening Kev, these are for the Helen to watch youtube videos and a bit of music.For not so serious listening I even use cheap ones from Lidl - both wired and Bluetooth, and recently the "earpod" versions. Otherwise we have several sets of Sennheiser cans, and I still like my Beyerdynamic DTX 900s bought over 10 years ago - though the foam pads are wearing out - and I'd like to get those sorted if possible - or buy an equivalent modern set.

I agree that for really serious listening it's worth paying more - perhaps a lot more - but for casual listening maybe not. Also check that the recipient of this "gift" really will value any extra quality. I know people who can't tell the difference between UHD TVs and black and white sets (oh - I am exaggerating ...) and between a real orchestra or band and a cheap transistor radio.

I’ve been using a pair of AKG K92 headphones for a couple of years and can recommend them, they can be had for about £40 if you hunt round. Nice and comfortable with an ingenious automatic headband adjustment, pretty vice free and non fatiguing on the sound quality front, decent length and sturdy cable.

One of the hardest things to recommend because a certain model can sound great on one system but not so great on another. However i just stick with my AKG 'K141, Mk.II' As a bonus these were Austrian made & if you happen to want a different lead or it gets damaged it is easily replaceable [Don't think applies to the Mk.I] You can also fit velour ear pads if you want.. These Phones can be had for about £40 used

Take a look to the Beyerdynamic Dt 770,Dt880 or Dt 990. For the first usage are not Bad and Enthusiasmus.
When you would a little bit more take a look to the Denon Ah D5200 or the latest version Ah D2000,Ah D5000.But you can’t buy it new.Just the Ah D5200.
Some Hifiman‘s and Sennheiser Headphone are not bad and the Akg 704 too.

When you would a little bit more a Dac are recommandet.
You can read some review of Headphones but is better you listen and decide yourself what you find good.
A nother good thing are to read some expression from Amazon Reviews for the choise.

Thanks for all the suggestions chaps but I should have mentioned I do need closed back headphones as anything that leaks too much sound will not go down well with the lady sitting next too me:)

Also got a pair of Sony 'MDR-V6' ive not used for a while, they are good classic headphones, but you have to be careful for counterfeits.. or the Sony 'MDR-7502' You can fit Beyer Dynamic 'EDT-250V' Velour ear pads to both these models..

Also, are they only going to be used in your home, or a controlled environment, or could they be used for travelling? Headphones for travel might be different. Might need for example noise cancelling, remote, mic for phone input. I’ve seen people walking with huge cans on their heads, so anything is possible these days.

I bought my daughter a pair of Sony MDR-V 500's a few years ago.
I use them now as she left home and didnt want to take them.
Good all round phones ,but the muffs have started peeling badly!
Just ordered some Chinglish replacements for not much money , so hopefully back infull working order soon !!

I have researched the Meze to death on the net and yet to find a bad review out of hundreds that I have read.

Is a good older Massdrop made from a few year maybe 2-3 years ago.So Massdrop has made some good things.
Actually Massdrop made not so good things.To many company would maybe not work longer with her or don‘t would it.
More the nomane Company‘s work‘s wirh it a little bit.Topping,Smsl,Jds Labs for example was for 2-3 years nothing.
I think is a good choise with the Maze,tell us who is good,please.
