Frankly, I think the use of Quad 57s are wasted on the likes of Sun Ra - certainly with the speakers arranged as shown the photograph. Having 4 stacks of 4 Quad 57s is unlikely to improve matters.

However I would be interested to know how well the Decca cartridges cope.

Having heard several Sun Ra recordings, they obviously sound better when replayed on speakers from Sun Ra's home planet of Saturn.

Ive heard just about all his albums & if i remember i only like two from the early 70's.. Dunno if hes still with us but he was a really old bloke last i knew..

He died in 1993 from pneumonia.

But actually he returned to his home planet of Saturn, where the average expectation of life is 750 years.

He recorded over 100 albums.

I appreciate you probably have heard a fair bit but I very much doubt you have heard anywhere near All of his released material. There are so many it’s frightening
Loads have never been reissued on any format and are as rare as hen’s!
His music started way back in the early 50’s through to doo-wop and on to the material most associate him with. An incredible individual.

I used to trade rare & obscure music files ripped from vinyl with a guy in Canada.. I can assure you i have.. Hes gone thru a lot of changes, Its the 70s Jazzy stuff i favoured..

I wish I had an opportunity to hear all his lps.
I have a massive jazz collection and have never got close to hearing all.the SunRa’s.

Jazz is atough one with me. I can listen to long standing artists like Ian Carr but i can only listen to those first four albums he did with Nucleus in the early 70s, pass on the rest. Same with say Miles Davis. Bitches brew & im done, so you can kinda work out its that late 60's/early 70's Modern Jazz/Prog jazz i opt for..

Believe it or not but real Prog fans that are so deep into it will listen & own the most far out non prog related stuff imaginable just because its rare & wierd & of the time lol or a band may have had a prog connection at some point lol...
