Not many of us are, really it's just you and a few reindeer. And they only do it for the carrots. In fact I don't reckon you like it all that much - you just like the way it looks from a cosy vantage point, in terms of mulled wine, hearty food, log fires. If you had to live in it, work in it, commute in it, leaving the house in the dark, coming home in the dark, you may have a different view. Go on, admit it, I'm right aren't I, you know I'm right! Quite often I'm not right, but this time I am :D.

Lol... Do you think in all these years I've never worked out in the cold, rain and/or snow, daftee? 'Course I have:) But whilst it was sometimes hard, I've *always* loved the snow, and even more so since I met Del, who's just obsessed with it, and so have grown to love it even more doing things together in snowy conditions and on holidays in places like Austria, especially as our wedding anniversary is on 22nd December!

In fact, in December we celebrate Del's birthday on 13th, our anniversary on 22nd and of course there's Christmas, so LOTS of fun things to look forward to and do, which is one of the reasons I love this month and the lead up to it the festive season, and this time of the year in general.

And as we've nearly always had a coal/log fire at home, even when I was working that was always one of the things I looked forward to: coming home to a roaring coal fire with a nice hot meal ready for me, as in those days Del worked 9-5, so was almost always home before me, to get the house all warm and cosy for me coming in. Plus, we love going for walks in the snow together or after it's snowed, as it's just so Christmassy and atmospheric.

I've always felt that way about winter, right from when I was a child, where I have some wonderful memories of winter and Christmas:cool:

As much as I like Christmas (and that's a lot), I prefer when we're getting through winter, Christmas, New Year, a little more light each evening then end of March to look forward to, clocks going forward, spring and 'summer' - yay! :yay:

On the other hand, once we hit August bank hol, I find that a bit depressing as I know not long before autumn, winter, cold, dark etc.

F1 season starts again in March too, not everyone's cup of tea but there's a lot of us F1 fans around (not here I know :rolleyes:) and I'm a massive Lewis Hamilton fan - come on March :D

I knew you wouldn't admit I'm right :ner: I like Christmas, I like snow when I don't have to drive in it, I like Jan 1st 'cos that's my birthday, and winter telly is marginally better than summer's efforts. But... I still don't like winter! And the only good part of being out in the cold is getting back in the warm. Maybe if me and Mrs. P got matching woolly hats we could get behind it a bit more :)

Just out of curiosity, what did your outdoor work entail? I may be wrong but I had this impression you were in sales. Or were you selling Christmas trees?

Yeah, I'd say more people prefer warm bright sunny days over winter months.

I get the indoors, warm fire thing. It's a different season, a change, but most people get through it, rather than say yeah I love and enjoy it.

I have admitted it, lol! What you describe are some of the things I love most about Christmas and winter: snow, beautiful decorations and tree, log-fires, mulled wine, house all candlelit and cosy - stuff that simply doesn't happen/wouldn't work at any other time of year!:)

It's also why our idea of HELL would be lying on a beach somewhere on Christmas day!!:doh::nono: That's just WRONG...

I also like seasons of the year when there's something FUN to look forward to, which again is why we love December, with Del's birthday, our anniversary and Christmas to look forward to, and the summer also comes into that category, as Del's off for 6 weeks and we'll usually go away somewhere nice and also have lots of BBQs and stuff at home. I also quite like Easter.

But summer, autumn and winter are by far my favourite months. The beginning of spring is ok too, as in some ways it's quite nice to see the lighter nights and warmer weather coming in. but then I get bored until it's time to go on holiday in July!

Cold never bothers me though, as I'm very warm-blooded and rarely feel the cold as others do. I'm always warm when others are cold. I can wear t-shirts outside, virtually throughout the year, and rarely need a jacket except for when it's exceptionally cold, and often have to walk out some folk's houses when they're just way too warm and stuffy for me, particularly when they're centrally heated, as I find it really dries out the air.

Yes, I've always been in sales, and mostly working in shops indoors. However, I also spent five years doing door-to-door cold calling, selling artwork and framing services to individuals and businesses, and so was out in all weathers from 9am, often until 9pm, with short breaks for meals. It's where I learned the 'bones' of the business I eventually started up myself, which is why I stuck it out so long, and also because I was very good at it and made a fortune, as the commission levels were high, although initially there was no basic wage.

When it rained and snowed though, it would involve trudging for miles around industrial estates and town centres during the day, then at night, the same again around housing estates, whilst carrying fairly heavy shoulder bags filled with stuff, and so I was frequently freezing cold/soaking wet. Hard work, and also soul-destroying stuff when things didn't go well!!:rolleyes:
