Reluctantly, I've decided to part with my vintage 14A/770 series EMI drivers (8 ohm).
These classic units are in great condition and the top of the range cast alloy chassis version with fibre mix cones and alloy centres. They are extended range units and can be crossed over to a tweeter without the need for a midrange speaker. EMI used them up to 5kHz, but I'd suggest 3kHz would be more optimal. They measure 14 inches by 9 inches, allowing a slim cabinet to be used. They are capable of bass output to below 30Hz and can be employed in reflex or sealed cabinets. Unsually these have grey single inverted roll long throw vinyl surrounds, most have black pleated vinyl.
EMI generally used them in closed boxes. B&W, Celef and Mordaunt Short used them in some very nice speakers.
I don't have specs for them, but they seem of mid sensitivity for the type, I'd guess around 90db. They'd make the basis for a nice speaker build project.
Asking £60 (PayPal) including delivery within UK. (they are big and very heavy, so I'm estimating around £20 of the asked price will be postage)
