Got an itch for another valve amp

It's been a good while since I sold my px25 monoblocks and I've got an urge for another valve amp. In particular a Yamamoto A-08 45 type valve. I have 99db Lii audio crystal 10 speakers so my one concern is will a 2w valve amp control the 10" driver in the bass like a solid state does. Anyone have experience with Yamamoto or a similar value amp around £2000. It will also mean I would need to buy a phono stage and pre if I went for the Yamamoto.

Just looked those up, as I wasn't familiar with them. The driver is extremely reminiscent of my old Coral Beta 10 units from nearly forty years ago.

I thought the same when I first saw them. I think Jamie has coral drivers, wanted to do a comparison.
The crystal 10 are the best full range driver I've ever heard.

Thanks mate, Nick has sorted it now. You may well be right about 2w being marginal. It's losing bass control with a low watt valve amp. I use a Sony STR 6055 receiver 40w solid state. Sounds fantastic and phono stage is great too with my Shure ultra 500. But you know how it is, been content for a good while and still am but......

AS I run Ocellia Calliopes, these were of interest.
As I have crystal 10 in big quarter waves I know how good they sound, bass is very good. You tube is not the best way to hear them obviously. It doesn't matter how busy the music is they cope very well.

These are great amps.not much information on the website, doesn't say what's in the kit, no photos of inside and how it will look when finished. No volume control. Considering it's a kit and doesn't need output transformers it's not exactly cheap, thsnks for the suggestion, worth some thought but would prefer a finished amp with a warranty. A Yamamoto may be much more expensive but resale value will be guaranteed. What amp do you use

I’m currently using Bastanis which have active bass from 200hz down run from a Behringer Inuke 3000w amp. Have a choice of amps for the rest of the frequency range but currently using a Unison Research S6.

I’ve had or heard many SE amps over the years, much as I love the sound of the good examples, that OTL kit blows them all out of the water to my ears.

They really are great amps, very clean and fast. Mine had better and deeper bass than the SS amps I tried.

Got the transcendent minibeast in my office set up, thanks to Julian for the loan. Too bloody wet to go down the garden to the listening room so pulled the main in interconnects from my jap crap integrated and speaker cables and connected to the minibeast. Speakers are DIY css125 wide range ( they say fullrange ) with aurum cantus G2 ribbons in my own design bass reflex with a leema sub set down low. Running Spotify through Najda dsp using only the Dac. The minibeast sounds very nice indeed, hope to get a dry day and get it running my Lii audio crystal 10 sometime this week.
