The Rega 10 looks awesome. End game?

But which Lou Reed album made you swear? :)

By coincidence I was playing Coney Island Baby earlier.

Congrats on getting the vinyl to what you want to hear in your system, not an easy job, as I Know all too well, and very easy to spend vast sums for little improvement.

Time to sit back and rediscover those old favourites and some new ones. :)

Nice one Gaz, glad you stuck with the old black stuff!

May change the phonostage to Rega’s new Aura to get the best out of it, but yeah, last deck I’ll ever need.
Lou Reed New York - awesome album, one of my favourites.

So whats the idea behind this design then Gaz. Light but stiff?

hifi_dave
28-03-2020, 16:44
Nope. Stiff and light.

 Same thing. Leads me as to why dont more people use Torlyte? or are they obsessed with High Mass options.

Most go with high mass but Rega have always gone the stiff and light route for all but the platters. With the P10, it is a Ceramic.

I would go the Rega idea. Heavy platter is better speed stability.

Gazjam

Just seen this, not looked in for a while.

Dave answered it all well.
If you take the platter off there’s next to no heft to it, the plinth itself weighs next to nothing.
All the mass, stiffness and engineering is focussed on where it counts most.
Platters a heavy brute, and thicker towards the circumference for flywheel effect.

Can’t go wrong with a Rega Andre, I’d avoid the RP1 and go a bit higher up the range.
A fellow Scottish Mafia member bought one and wondered what the hell all the fuss was about vinyl.

P3 or above is where I’d be looking.
The Rega carts are good too.

Hope you and the Mrs are talking again, stressful times enough man...

Why is that? If its the platter, Rega Glass platter come up on E-Bay at times. See Rega are one of those turntables that i would not pay too much money for no matter how they sugar coat models

The Rega P1 is a lovely turntable, especially when compared to the 'competition'. Great performance, build, reliability and Rega backup if needed. I've lost count of the number of these I've sold and all customers have been pleased and no faults.

Well ive had a conversation with the other half & she agreed to a brand new deck if i knocked the old stuff on the head.

The 'P1 Plus' would be the one if anything because of the built in Phono stage, I hate boxes hanging about and i know that old Rega 'FONO' sounded good enough. The Phonostage in the Arcam amp i have sound wank to me anyway.. If anything i don't like about the 'P1' is that thick platter. Regas only look right with thin glass platters, like i say they come up on E-Bay.

Dave do you knoe if the resent P1' would fit on the original Rega wall shelf? Are the feet attached in the place as the older models i mean?

Far as I know, yes.

If you want one, you need to be quick as Rega have closed production now. Open for today ONLY to take orders for delivery this week.

here you go with a better arm and high rated https://www.henleyaudio.co.uk/products/Essential-III-Phono?DepartmentIds=1&BrandIds=2 built in MM phono, I think it is virtually the same design of arm as on the Debut carbon.

Well...
were looking at the low budget end of course.

2nd hand is always a good shout if looking for something specific, but if new and moderns your thing:
Speak nice to the Mrs and push the boat out a bit. :)
P3, need a phonostage though.
