Humax is the market leader. I have a 1tb box that has not given me a single problem since I bought it several years back.

There isn't a lot of choice, but Humax is one of the best options, either free sat or free view via an aerial. I use a free sat version and it works fine, HD channels look great, the standard def ones a little soft. I think a sky box offers slightly better picture via standard def.
After searching around and finding quite a few (including Humax) I settled for a Panasonic model.
Cheap enough, looks good and works a treat ... no regrets except for a quite clunky interface (although to be honest, others I looked at weren't much better)

If you have Sky I presume you have a satellite dish. You might be interested in this https://www.amazon.co.uk/Humax-HB-1100S-Freesat-Satellite-Receiver/dp/B071L2NY8X/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=Humax+HB-1100S+HD&qid=1575920699&s=electronics&sr=1-2
If you want to record you can use a usb drive or external hdd.

Judging by the date of the invoice I'm guessing a Black Friday deal ... wouldn't have paid more .... can record freeview with my TV (not very elegantly though...).

Depends on your reception with Freeview. I live in a reception blackspot so most local homes have to install really high aerials. Was much cheaper to install a satellite dish and use Freesat.
