We have this Ex Demo Bryston BDA-3 DAC (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/dacs/bryston-bda-3-dac/) available for sale at £2699, saving you £900 over the RRP.
Bryston first stepped into the DAC market a few years ago with the introduction of the BDA-1 which was met with critical acclaim. The Bryston BDA-3 DAC is the first Bryston DAC that is DSD ready.
The Bryston BDA-3 DAC houses two AKM DAC chips that offer up to 32-bit/384kHz resolution and the ability to decode up to DSD256, this can be done via the two USB inputs on the back. Something unique to the Bryston BDA-3 are its four HDMI inputs, Bryston state that this makes this DAC suitable for today’s home entertainment lifestyle.
Other features of the Bryston BDA-3 DAC input selection is that it has two USB inputs alongside two digital coax, one with a BNC socket that unlike the standard RCA offers a true 75 Ohm connection, that is inherently better at transferring digital signals. Other inputs are AES/EBU and optical.
Another USB and Ethernet connection can be found on the back of the DAC, these are used for control purposes in multiroom situation.
A surprisingly light box, the low mass is made possible thanks to its aluminium casing, this in turn offers superior RF shielding for the DAC. The Bryston BDA-3 DAC uses a linear power supply. Simple to use in every sense, all inputs have separate buttons with an indicator light above on the front panel, these lights switch to green when a signal is detected.
There is even a button for upsampling, the Bryston BDA-3 DAC doesn't convert anything to another format or re-sample at a non-native rate unless instructed to using the upsample button. Sample rates are indicated on the front panels left hand side with lights signifying both PCM and DSD.
