View Full Version : Oscillating/buzzing noise from an Inca Designs Talon

I just bought this off eBay. The seller says it was fine when he sent it and there's no sign of damage. The noise gets louder as you turn it up so I'm thinking it's in the pre section. It happens regardless of source selection even with nothing connected (except the speakers and power cable of course!) so not my dac.

It's like an oscillating noise with several discrete buzzes per second that slowly speed up and slow back down again. I'm thinking it's an op amp or something but wondered if anyone has any ideas how to remedy the issue?

Of course I can return it but I rather like the sound but I can't live with the noise, being very obvious in quiet passages. I don't want to send it off for repair I'd rather just return it if I can't sort it myself.

If it's intermittent, it could be dry soldered joint.

Will check for loose connectors and any plug in boards.

Do you have it close to a computer or Wi-fi?
Perhaps it is RFI.

Perhaps it is RFI.I thought about that but as my source is a Liv Zen connected to a power line adaptor I'm not sure its any use if it can't reject that much RFI. It's a class AB and other AB ones are fine, and class D and valve.
