this is my second post.....sorry ;)

Live in Sittingbourne, current system is Nait 2, CD3.5/HiCap with Acoustic Energy Aegis Ones.

Been playing with the idea of changing to digital media. Borrow an AE and whilst it is a good bit of kit the sounds is average at best via the analogue.

Been looking at DAC's and have bounced some emails with Stan.

visited a friends the other day who uses a MacBook/Hifac Weiss Dac2 or Lavry into valve amp (not sure which one) then Art Emotion loudspeakers. All i can say is wow, i was totally blown away.

Other interests include cycling, both road and MTB, i am also a member of the South East Lotus Owners club.

Cheers
D

No worries, Damien. Glad you found us, so get stuck in!

If you've got any pictures of your system, pop 'em in The Gallery, as we like to see different types of set-ups :)

Welcome to AoS, sure you will have fun.

A "Loads Of Trouble Usually Serious" hey - what model do you have? (I lived in Norwich for 30 years so have friends who work or worked there, and used to play on my bike around some of the test routes.) A mates dad had an Elite - I thought it was amazing. The mate ended up with a 90's Elan which I remember trying to get 4 director's chairs in plus him and me after a shopping trip in December - it was a rather cold 30 miles I recall!

Enjoy the forum.

Thanks Alex,
I have an S1 Elise Sport 160, great fun! I used to be into bike but had a bag accident so got a Tiger Cat E1 (caterham rep) and then the Elise 3 years ago. Dont a couple of airfield days in it and track day at Abbeville in France.

Yeah you cant get a lot in a Lotus, even the new Evora is not exactly roomy.

Welcome,

Perhaps you'd care to consider spending less on motorised penile extensions and consider warm, orange glowing penile extensions instead?????

That Nait 2 has got to go you know, no power, gutless and soft-clips all the transients, but it's got a Naim badge on the front so all the sheep will pay silly money for it.... I'm serious ;)

I've read elsewhere that the AE isn't as hot from its analogue outputs and a Caiman would be a great start. You could sell that CD player of yours too, while it's still worth something...........

Don't mind me - the meds must be wearing off :D

Hi Damien,
Welcome to The Art of Sound. Don't mind Dave, he thinks my gear's a pile of old shite too!
Despite that, I'm sure you'll find this a great place to be.

Cheers

Thanks for the welcomes :)

The Nait 2 was a gift from my father several years ago so dont want to sell that.

The CD3.5/Hicap i am happy to sell if i can get the quality of sound back from going the digital route.

One of two ways to go, the expensive way or the not so expensive

But i guess that is a thread for another section.

Hi Damien,

Welcome to AoS. I think from all this elliptical tread drift you must be thinking "what the hell kind of a forum is this that I've joined?" Don't worry, we are a bunch of nutters here, and some of us do have - Urm, shall we say, a 'scatalogical' sense of humour. But stick around and you'll find that at times we can and do talk a lot of sense.

Welcome to the forum.
