Really glad to have finally received this yesterday morning.

Delivery courtesy of master tech and friend Angus-Phonomac, who drove all the way down from Northampton yesterday morning with my baby.

He's worked his magic on it, so serviced, re-capped, upgraded/improved and so on, where necessary, he does.

The SP-10 and lovely EPA-250 tonearm have both been well 'serviced' and then mounted in a Panzerholz plinth he's made and machined to my desired requirements - the finish on the plinth is super smooth - great work as always.

I haven't had a chance to hear it all yet as been mad busy - It's my birthday on Monday so I'm out with fam' and friends today and tomorrow but as soon as I get the chance, I'll be getting the protractor out and setting up the tonearm up properly.

I'm off work on Monday too so will be looking to set up and indulge.

To say I'm chuffed and excited would be about right :)

I bet the TT weighs a ton!

I have a few TT upgrades in mind whish *should* squeeze a bit more out of the Techy.

I am also sending mine to Acoustistand for a refinish job, probably next year.

I love mine. Welcome to the club!

All you need now is a Tenuto [emoji6]

Great deck, possibly the best deck ever.If you want a turntable that add nothing and takes nothing away, this is the way to go.

And exactly why I went the legendary SP10 route, cause that is right up my straza :D

Need to set up tonearm and hear the blinkin thing asap though.

Just back from Steak house with Mrs n daughters and it's late so hopefully by Monday.

Can neither comment nor evaluate til I've heard the thing

Good grief. I'd be setting it up now lol

Trust me the temptation to do it as we speak is worse than resisting scratching a very intense itch :(

But, Mrs just brought out a lovely homemade lemon cake, which she knows I like, fresh cream, card and a bottle of Sparkling Shiraz, another of my faves ....

Also, I always set-up in the day when the sunlight fills the room, so I can see grid lines etc etc properly - I'm anal about set up and getting on as well

Right guys we have lift off !!

Been nearly 5 months the SP-10 has been sat on the rack, doing nothing but looking pretty, what with one thing or the other.

At long last everything is done and the first album has just gone on.

First I'm hearing it so I'm having a listen, letting the stylus warm up etc, fine tuning will follow, probs tomorrow as Mrs not long gone up.

At this stage, just very glad to have it playing tunes at long last.

Initial thoughts are sounds emitting are good, very neutral but still very early days.

I sense some bedding in is going on, the Yannis Cable is brand new etc and more tunes and fine tuning needs to be done - at least we're up and running :)

I'll be back..............

Absolute neutrality, metronomic, timing and pace, system sounds quieter -am i making sense

nothing but the music comes through

Steely Dan - both Goucho and Aja sounded great, then Bob Marley and the Wailers Natty Dread album  again absolute neutrality, perfect pitch and just the music ! - live and even, can really hear the I Threes doing their thing on this one, there's a sense they are 'doing' their parts, being recorded. This was their first album with Bob, providing backing harmony vocal, after Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer had moved on....

Sounding superb and just a few hours in, so much infinite info and detail coming through, Bobs expresses, pronounces, phrasings, albums I've played much of my life and know.....even more revealed...... live, recorded music right here and pronounced or is that fully protracted on 'Lively Up Yourself' as i type, serious master tape sound to this one - wow !!

You have my word that this is fabulous.

Two more from Natty Dread then i have to get to bed, working from home tomorrow but I'm elated, heaven knows I've been had the pain, it's been a long long time getting to this point ... :yay:

Ahhh, your spinning black disc's again. Enjoy. The tonearm cable shouldn't need any burning in, it should be good to go. I don't think your going to hear any additional changes.

Well, must have set-up the tonearm cart about four times now, first time was nice but I just new I could get set-up better.

The Fritz Gyger S stylus profile does not take any prisoners, it demands you set it up right otherwise.....

So, another long evening / night and sounding fab :D music flowing with that rightness you sit back and hope for as your system does its thing.

Albums sound sonically right, consistently across a side, surface noise was a bit exaggerated before, not a good sign, now all but gone, silent passages and between tracks, eerie silence.

Now for some Bunny Wailer....

Thanks for starting this thread Robert. Given the status of the (modded) SL1200 on this forum, the question surely is how does the SP10 II compare with your previous, fully modded SL1200? Apologies if you've already covered this elsewhere.

This was always going to come out my own evaluation, time spent with the SP10.

Not sure when exactly when that will be as I'm enjoying the SP10 / evaluation so much, seriously so much, but it will come, God willing and will likely be a separate / new thread :)

Thanks Steve, The Cadenza Black is a lovely cart, however, since the Fritz Gyger S re-tip, it is forensic, energetic and takes its excellent detail retrieval to another level - gets deep inside recordings, so hot tracks are presented as such, balanced as balanced and so on, you get everything, warts an all, there's no glossing over - coupled with the SP10 it's true hi-fidelity, as in faithful to what is in those grooves /recorded - not for all, but i love it :)

* Just listened to Steely Dan, 'Caves of Altamira' and 'Haitian Divorce' just finished as we speak - fabulous !
