TC-7520 only 48 kHz?

Hello. I thought I'd try the three month Amazon HDU free trial. I have a Beresford TC-7520 that I'm using as a preamp with an old Quad power amp. TC-7520 is supposed to be 98 kHz. Amazon will play 98 kHz but displays my 'device capability' at 48 hHz. Does anyone know if/how I can get to 98 kHz please? Thank you..

Ah, ok - thank you so much! So that would be from either of the two coaxial inputs on the back of the DAC. Where exactly on the back of my PC does it connect to? I assume I can still use the fixed output (to use DAC as a preamp)..

You will likely need a usb to spdif convertor.
Or use a rpi with digi board and cast the music from pc to it.
It's unlikely your pc has a coax out

My PC has a SPDIF output as standard on the motherboard.
It all depends on the spec of the PC.

Thank you Grant. I just searched online for usb to spdif convertors. They seem to vary in price.. Are the cheap ones on Ebay ok and is there anything I should be looking out for? Would you could recommend any?

It may have an optical output, or what looks like a yellow RCA plug, or neither.
It depends on the PC.

Not tried the cheap ones. Not tried any for years now but when I sit they were in 50/100pound range s/h.
Tbh you may be better off using a different dac that does usb better.

Anyway this convertor doesn't look dear and by a good maker

Great! I do have a yellow SPDIF out on the back of my PC. I'll order a Digital Audio Coaxial Cable. Hopefully the DAC will work.. I remember trying an optical cable once but couldn't get any sound and eventually gave up after trying for a few hours.

Make sure it is enabled in the OS.
If you have a spare interconnect lying around, you can plug it in and see if it works before buying a dedicated cable.

Hey Kev (and Grant) thank you so much! I found an optical SPDIF cable. Googled 'How to enable SPDIF windows 10' and I found the setting to change to 96 kHz.
After always listening to vinyl and CDs, I then put my music to FLAC. Recently I've been only using Spotify and got used to the downgrade in sound quality. So nice to be listening to lossless again.. it makes such a difference, especially when it's loud! It's a shame Spotify don't also offer this as an option as I really like the interface (great for finding new music).
