View Full Version : The New Look - why is everybody changing their avatars?

Lorks a mercy! - Everybody is changing their avatar.

Whilst I'm used to, and expect, Alex(UK), André and Dave (DSJR) to regularly change their avatar, there suddenly seems to have been a rash of 'new looks'.

Aquapiranah has gone back to his original - next it will be 'Mr Jolly' or the 'Midwich Cuckoos', Hamish has gone all slick and sophisticated, even Marco is now a middle aged DJ playing his Shure M3D in a Grey arm on a Gates turntable.

What's going on here? Is it a touch of summer madness? I need to do something about it quick.

And to think that my avatar is related to buddhism; a religion that preaches the transitory nature of everything.

I'm sticking with the invisible avatar thing.

To be honest, despite being rather fond of mine, I've been thinking of changing it for a while now. I haven't found one that I'd feel at home with yet "!!

Please don't Chris. Yours is one of a number of avatars that I really like, and truth be said, put a smile on my face (just as Hamish's old 'camera case' avatar used to).

I need a 'still rock in troubled waters'.

I have no idea what you are talking about....

Just leave your spaz toe out of it Hamish! ;)

Mine has to change, but equally has to stay the same subject, now I've started it! You'd all be confused if it suddenly became an Edam or a hand grenade, wouldn't you?!

Agree though Barry that now Marco has evolved (the first time since I've been here) as well as a few others, there must be something in the (thunderous) air?

Anyway, as my old granny (really) used to say, "a change is as good as rest"

Well, Steve's new one depicts and excellent film!

I just fancied a wee change.... The other one I was going to use was slightly more controversial and involved silk gloves, rubber fasteners and a monkey wrench :eyebrows:

Oh. I thought it was a picture from the Birkenhead Tourist Board. I'm sure that's Bidston Hill in the background.

That's better Vincent Price rather than Mr Lee at least to my knowledge Vincent has not worn a dress in a Horror film.

Theatre of Blood

I agree DR Phibes is pure genius, though the follow up was poor in comparison. Took me years to see them and then Sky showed them both.

Nah, he's sitting down pressing out a particularly troublesome 'fruit loaf', and wiping off the residue with some wet dock leaves..... :eyebrows:

That's the second time you've accused me of ad-hoc poo-manoeuvres Marco. Last time it was beef olives in the fireplace, this time it's fruit loaf in the forest!

Mine isn't changing, that's for sure. I like it and I like being consistent across all the boards I post on.

Don't get rid of yours Chris... I'm with Barry - knowing what you do for a living it always gives me a chuckle and frankly reminds me me where I'd rather be myself!

In order to prevent these posts from ‘contamination’ by Marco’s frequent scatological musings, maybe he should have a page of his own, reserved for this sort of thing.

It could be called: “Marco’s ‘willy, bum, wee-wee and poo’ jokes page”.

That would allow the rest of us to continue serious, deep and sophisticated discussion on topics such as: ‘Are there benefits to be gained by regularly exposing ones silver conductor interconnects to the light of a full moon?’, or ‘Should we routinely de-gauss the electrode structure of our ECC83s?’
