My investigation would consist of looking out of the police station window for ten seconds, if no culprits are seen then close the case.

Those commuters deserve medals not prosecution

The bloke that needs locking up for public nuisance, is the pillock shouting his head off in Westminster, who can be heard over all the outside TV news reports.

It's not far from me and I'm very tempted to go up there and tell him to go and furk himself.

I agree entirely with the right to protest but not twice and for two weeks on each occasion

If these people want support they need to stop pissing people off

its the way they go about it that makes the whole thing appear like cranks. people in general are fed up bearing the brunt of all this, while the major polluters just do what they please.

Here's a list of the top 5 - https://www.activesustainability.com/environment/top-5-most-polluting-countries/

USA and China are top - but per capita China is lower. The US is ... well .... problematic ...

Here's a comprehensive list for CO2 - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_carbon_dioxide_emissions from 2017

https://www.topteny.com/top-10-most-polluted-countries-in-the-world/

African and South American countries don't seem to feature much.

Here's a list based on greenhouse gas emissions (which are presumably weighted for different gases) - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_greenhouse_gas_emissions
US and China are still top.

How did the Romans have vineyards in North Yorkshire if climate change is caused my greenhouse gases?

You are completely missing the point that the UK's performance in reducing emissions over the last 10 years has been one of the best in the developed world.

These idiots ignore the actual science in favour of emotive rubbish. Only the equally idiotic fall for it, either that or their fellow travellers are cynical virtue signallers hopping on the bandwagon. Either way they should be given short shrift. They should go to Hong Kong where people have genuine problems to demonstrate about.

As for that Greta whatsername her parents should be ashamed of themselves. As the father of a lad with Asbergers I know that part of my job is to stop him rushing headlong down emotional rabbit holes, not encouraging them for the TV cameras. Things can only end badly for the poor girl.

I'm not avocating doing nothing I'm advocating common sense. The world is not coming to an end and the clowns who are out there weeping in the middle of the road need psychiatric attention, not media time.

There has always been 'climate change', as they call it now since Global Warming ceased to be flavour of the month. Everybody with any kind of agenda is hopping on the bandwagon and lobbing their *facts* at us from all directions, whatever their stance.

Thing is, weather and climate are cyclic in nature and can vary a lot over short or long periods.

I just object to having everybody else's opinion shoved at me and being expected to take it at face value.

I just object to having everybody else's opinion shoved at me and being expected to take it at face value.Indeed, but most of the scientific evidence - and there's a lot of it - is very heavily in favour of "climate change" - which appears to be leading towards higher temperatures overall, higher sea temperatures, rising sea levels and seriously high speed winds.

I don't want to tell you what to believe, but there are significant reasons for accepting the trends. It's up to you whether you decide to accept the notion, based on the evidence. I'd prefer it though if people didn't deny the evidence.

A very long while ago there was no ice anywhere, and the world was presumably hotter than it is now, but there were no people around then AFAIK.

Re the protests, climbing onto tube trains in rush hour is just plain stupid.

Well quite. China is opening coal fired electricity plants on a monthly basis, and their emissions are rising faster than the entire developed world is reducing them. Asking the Chinese to stop what they regard as legitimate development is a fruitless exercise.

Personally I think by going for the climate argument the environmentalists have got it all wrong. While pretty much everyone can agree that the world is warming, there is no agreement on the extent to which humans are causing it vs other more cyclical factors, or the extent to which humans might be able to halt it or reverse it.

By contrast sustainability is something most people can get on board with - we are consuming planetary resources at a grossly unsustainable rate. Likewise pollution and environental degradation/habitat destruction. But these are things that we can more readily do something about.

Conflating all these issue in a giant emotional stew while shouting WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIE helps no-one, except perhaps extreme Marxists bent on destroying capitalism.

The fundamental problem is too many humans.

End of.

But virtually no one wants to talk about it.

People think they have the right to have children. We need to find a way to stop that on a global scale.

The genetic bioweapons that all the major powers strenuously deny having any interest in, but are all secretly and frantically working on should sort all that out!

One day, when the sea has risen to apocalyptic levels, all there will be left for us to do is stand on a hill with a bottle of pop and sing this. Too little too late though :(

I'd like to amend my previous post - there'll be no singing "I'd like to teach..." on the hilltops. All these prime locations will have been bought and built on by the very wealthy, and heavily fortified to keep us oiks out.

We'll have the last laugh though, when there's no one left to deliver their groceries and mow their lawns :)

There also used to be a lot of scientific evidence to the contrary however this has mostly mysteriously vanished and scientists who deviate from the accepted wisdom are given no airtime by the media

The fundamental problem is too many humans.

End of.

But virtually no one wants to talk about it.

People think they have the right to have children. We need to find a way to stop that on a global scale.Sadly I agree with you.

However, Hans Rosling - Facfulness - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Factfulness-Reasons-Wrong-Things-Better/dp/1473637465 presents a slightly more optimistic view, though it still ends up with several billion more people than we have now.

I believe that others, such as David Attenborough, believe that for any sort of sustainability, the human population should be around 10 times smaller than it is now. I haven't checked for sure if that's correct. That's a lot of people to lose.

Country wise, China and the USA are making things worse faster than nearly all the rest.

Re contrariwise scientific evidence - yes - there is some - but not much. Most of the evidence is strong enough to support the notion that global warming is actually happening, and additionally most of the evidence is now strong enough to support the notion that much of this is caused by human activity - mostly, but not exclusively, fossil fuel burning.

We are living in the anthropocene age.
