Intro

Long time lurker here, just never got round to the formality of introductions, actually I did reply to a thread once and was promptly pointed to the Intro page which I then forgot to do.

So, name is Rob, was sitting on a system for a while and in the last year have 'gone nuts' (in my world anyway). Added a Jadis DA30 as amplification (from a Jadis Orchestra), bought numerous signals tubes to allow the tweaker in me get to work, recently added a Luxman CD player, a nice Italian filter and a sub. Thoroughly enjoying my music, expanding tastes in all directions, will listen to anything except hours and hours of classical or disco.

I have a piece of kit of sale but that belongs in another thread on the right sub-forum.

What kind of music do you like ?

It would be nice to see some photos of your system in the Gallery section.

Must say I would not have put Revel speakers and a valve amplifier together as the Revel speakers can be a bit power hungry. Or at least a pair of F22s were that I tried once.

The F12's are 91db and match perfectly with 30plus watts from the Jadis, never felt like there was something missing, in fact with a source upgrade recently it sounds pretty sublime. The speakers do a fine job of disappearing in a relatively small room too.

Let me rephrase what I said.

It would not have been my first thought to match a Revel speaker with a lower power valve amplifier. My own admittedly limited experience of Revels (M22 and M12) and what I have read about them, would suggest that a solid state amplifier would be more suitable. I have also found Revel to be amplifier and system fussy.

One of the best sounds I have heard at a show was a Mark Levinson integrated and CD player with Revel stand mounts at Noel Cloneys show at the Birlington Hotel in Dublin a few years ago.:)

However I am glad yours work with your Jadis (I love Jadis amplifiers):)

What's your first name ? and could you add it as your signature. We like to use first names on AOS as it makes for a more friendly forum.

I heard many systems at Cloneys (shows and in the shop) and I could never replicate the sound/performance of the same setups at home, which were always much better, nothing beats a home dem and Cloneys are great to support these. Many so called stunning systems on paper just completely failed at the shows and found myself going less and less.

Name is Rob and music generally decribed in the first post, I will approach anything but run out of steam on disco and too much classical.

I agree about the sound at shows usually poor but that Levinson + Revel set up was stunning.

Yes home demo is the only way to go :)
