Hi all.

Just got my new turntable back from being serviced by Nick Gorham who recapped and serviced it.

Its the Trio L-07d.

Absolutely mind blowing... This this is freakin' serious.

So this is my first direct drive turntable and I am a happy bunny.

Enjoy [emoji16][emoji482]

What an absolute beast. I love the looks and from what I've read previously (as directed by NG) it's certainly an impressive performer in the specs.

Congratulations. Serious vinly investment.

Thanks guys... yep, it's pretty epic I must admit.

To say it's 40 years old it really makes you think how much effort and design went in to it. It's astonishing.

Every single one made (apparently) never re-couped. A vanity project of which the likes of would never be seen again.

Goodness knows how much it would cost to make these days.

Jo it looks like it was designed this year!

Congratulations on your purchase it certainly looks a beast and I expect it performs suitable well! Nice Leftfield choice for a Jap DD turntable.

Indeedy... Thing is, I'm really not sure how it can be improved... lol... as it sounds spectacular. Not mechanical nor analytic. The timing and the sound stage is simply stunning.

I will do the bits though... :)

Wow - the VTA/SRA adjustment and arm pillar lock has to be the best I have ever seen on a pick-up arm.

Congratulations Josie - it is a bit of a beast! Well done.

The SP-10 is a great deck though, no doubt. Plenty of a following for them. In fact I was going to look at one but the buyer fell silent.

Thanks guys.

Hi Julian... they don't appear very often. They were certainly a limited run.

How many were made, why they were made has a certain shroud of mystery around it. Some say Micro Sieki had a big hand in it and it's alledged that it was a big part. The team that designed it were fired from Trio/Kenwood in 1983. LOL... Wonder if the project nearly bust the company?

Mine is a UK model and again, a very limited run were made for the UK.

Hi Stuart.

I couldn't resist it... Lol

It was a good price so I thought I'd just go for it.

No its not my friends one but he put me in touch with the seller initially.

Its in fab condition, has a couple of teeny bits here and there from its 40 years on this earth. Nothing remotely worth worrying about.

Where ever its been its been really well looked after.

Hi grant, they don't come up very often and most do now need some TLC which is why I got this one done as soon as I could.

The chassis is made from a crazy material which is dead. Think of it like concrete so you need to take care when moving it.

Its very heavy too. Weighing in at 35kg. And the tonearm assembly weighs 3kg. The control unit is 4kg.

Congrats Josie, that's one hell of a turntable and a thing of consummate engineering beauty. Probably one of only 2 turntables I'd consider if I hadn't got the Bergmann Sindre.

Many happy hours of listening pleasure awaits!

Perhaps a bit too early to ask, but I'll ask anyway Josie - how does the Trio compare in sound quality to the Thorens 124?

I would be interested in your findings.

Josie,
Well chosen. The Trio L07D is IMO one of the best Japanese TTs ever made - miles better than the Scottish one touted back in the early 80s. Built like a battleship and sounds fabulous.

Any thoughts on my post #40?Hi Barry.

The main thing I've noticed is the pace/timing. It's so accurate without sounding mechanical. It doesn't add swing if that makes sense but it doesn't take it away.

Its more 'as it is' rather than adding any interpretation.

I'd say the Trio is more organic as it brings out more of the original euphoria. It really digs deep. It's an exciting listen for sure.

The TD124 never added anything bad. That's why it's so good. It's a joyous deck and what it does is everything it should do if partnered with a good arm/cart.

So, definitely a different flavour with both decks and both have their well deserved privileges and signatures.

Hi Greg.

Its a shame you sold it. Don't suppose you have any bits left over from yours do you? Lol

Looking for some of the extra bits they came with.
