Hello

Can anyone help me with this one? I have bought a Potentiometer to replace the one i have in my pre-amp and would like to know where the input and output wire from the Potentiometer go to. Or rather I know where they go to (2 go to the source dial and 2 go to RIN and LIN on a pcb) but i need to know which way do they go? IE do the inputs from the Potentiometer go to the source dial or to the RIN/LIN?

Thanks for any thoughts on this !! I have attached a pic of the Potentiometer.

That's not a potentiometer.
It's a multiway switch. As in the type used for stepped attenuators.

Hi Chris

I thought that a potentiometer and a Attenuator were the same thing?

Anyway you are right it is a

Valab 23-Stepped Attenuator Volume Control 250K

If you've got multiple inputs I'd suggest the source control.
Are there resistors already soldered to the switch ? You'd just have a series of open ciruits if there are no resistors.

Correct Andre
Here is another pic !

Anyway any ideas as to which go to which?

Inputs go to the selector switch, outputs go to the PCB inputs.
