Hi,

I've enjoyed many threads on this site and felt I should express my thanks and introduce myself. My name is Matthew, first and foremost I love music and run a small record fair in the South West of England. My passion for Hi Fi is of the analogue variety - Over the past 10 years or so this interest has focused on Idler driven TT's, traditionally Thorens 124's and Garrard 301 / 401's.
As I type I'm listening to the new double Martin Simpson LP which dropped through the door this morning. My music tastes include: Modal Jazz / / Singer Songwriter - Acoustic - Folk / / Chamber music // Country Blues // Soul // Some prog and psych

Having been issued with a Jazz A.S.B.O by my wife I'm reduced to headphones with this genre.

I've been restoring 301's and 401's professionally for a couple of years now and met some great people (some of whom post on this board) along the way.

My current set up:
Garrard 301 TT // SME 3012 Series 1 (A) Orsonic Headshell // Ortofon SPU Royal N // Ortofon Mono // Ortofon SPU GTE // Koetsu Black

Tube Technology Unisis Int Amp / / Whest phonostage // Trichord Diabolo / /

Audio note cables // Cadence Anina speakers...

Here's a pic (301 in 8 layer cherry plinth / / Cherry Headshell / / Ortofon Kontrapunkt C ... 124 set up (Mono) Ortofon Diam 25 Mono // Ortofon RMG309)

Hope to chip in and visit more - all the best, Matt

Welcome to AoS Matt.

That's some interesting vintage or rather 'classic' gear you have there. There are some other users and lovers of vintage kit here on AoS, myself included, so you should fit in well.

I would say that we like to see photos of member's setups, so if you can manage it that would be great. I won't hold you to it, as I have been a member for about 18 months and have yet to do the same!

Would also be interested to know a little more of your tastes in music. Having broad tastes is to be appauded - may we know what they are?

Enjoy the forum

Hi Mathew,
That's a nice collection of equipment you have there. There are two or three of us here who use Koetsu Blacks.
I see you run a record fair. Did you notice in the terms and conditions of Art of Sound that anyone in that profession should hand over to me all the vinyl they have for sale immediately upon joining? It's just a simple formality really - I can collect if it's absolutely necessary.

Welcome!!

I've attempted to edit my first post and added a little pic and some more detail on my music tastes - The latter is a tricky one as I do roam somewhat with music:eyebrows:
