Something of a rarity here - an Ortofon SPU GM Mk1, freshly restored by Ortofon themselves in Denmark using original Ortofon parts.

This is ‘the’ classic Ortofon sound - Alnico magnet, spherical stylus. It went back to Ortofon back in May under its repair service https://www.ortofon.com/repair-spu-classic-gm-mki-p-499-n-3597 - this costs €415 + two way shipping - and came back with a new tip, cantilever and suspension unit, fitted to the original Alnico magnet assembly. Functionally this is a brand new cartridge (with paperwork to prove it).

It comes with Ortofon box, a stylus guard, and a wooden mount which can be used to mount it in any tonearm or headshell. Of course it can also be mounted directly in a regular SPU headshell all well.

The equivalent, new model non-Alnico SPU to this one is the SPU Classic N, €690 Euros plus shipping https://www.ortofon.com/spu-classic-n-p-556-n-1579 . I’m offering this one at £400 collected (Reading area) or +£10 for RMSD in the UK.

Now on ebay, sensible offers considered.

If you prefer to use this in an SPU-type headshell I also have this for sale, these are over £125 including shipping from Germany (not including the set of pure silver litz tonearm wires I added), I can bundle it with the SPU for £75.

Consider swap or part-swap (money this way) for a turntable.
