Hello,

has any member of this forum experience with this combination of Sugden A21a, old version with 2x25W in A class, and Tannoy Turnberry SE loudspeakers? It will be used in middle room, not too loud listening jazz and blues. Thanks for sharing your experience.

The sensitivity is 93dB at 1 metre per Watt.

So with a maximum of 25W, the SPL at 2 metre will be ~ 100dB, though the amplifier will running at its maximum output level. 100dB is loud, and since you say you listen to jazz and blues "not too loud" I would have though the A21a would be fine.

I can't speak for either the Sugden A21a or the Turnberrys, but driving Tannoys with class A Sugdens is near heavenly. I have slightly less efficient Tannoys but a slightly more powerful Sugden (35w) in a midsized room. Works a treat - with tons of headroom if/when I need it.

I'm also interested in newer Sugden amplifier like Mark2 or SE, because renewal of old Sugden A21a is 280 gbp.

I've borrowed Sugden A21a from friend and it is running few days. Half an hour warming up. Impressions: beautiful, warm sound, deep bass, very nice feeling. Highly recommended with Tannoy's.

Yes it's funny with good Class A SS amps.

In general, you turn them on and play music and it sounds a sort of blandish average intitially, then after about ten minutes it's as though somebody has flicked a 'magic switch' and everything starts to come together. The soundstage opens up massively and imaging and depth take on a holographic nature and things just keep on improving as the amp gets properly warmed up. Great fun! :)
