Totally wonderful speakers.

See the AOS review http://theartofsound.net/forum/showthread.php?t=3569

12 inch Watkinson woofer.

2 EMIM ribbon midrange drivers.

1 EMIT ribbon tweeter.

Demo welcome - but make sure you bring a big car/van!

51 inches high, 18 inches wide, 11 inches deep. Solid wood enclosure.

Woofers look like they have recently been refoamed, so should be good for many years.

Easily driven by 15wpc upwards (they were great with my 15wpc Cary SET valve monoblocks!), but will readily handle 100s of watts.

Sonically flawless.

A couple of cosmetic flaws ....
- The diffraction-reduction spongey foam around the ribbon units is starting to perish a little at the edges (see photo). This does not affect the sound, and as the speakers sound best with the grille covers on, this is not noticeable.
- A couple of the wooden struts forming the frame on 2 of the top grille covers (there are 2 per speaker - front and back) have broken. This could be easily fixed and is not really noticeable anyway.

£750 - buyer collects from GL17.

So the Infinity speakers are set to go, does this mean the MBL's are going to be there for the duration Jerry?

Hi Chris - yup, the MBLs ... well, let's say they justify their price.

The Infinity's are truly superb speakers, though - only come for a listen if you are prepared to buy! :)

Those ribbon units are a league up from any 'normal' cone and dome units for naturally presented detail and dynamic speed.

Now I understand why you changed your avatar Jerry.

As far as I understand, the MBLs are omnidirectional. Do they work well near a rear wall?

In general I'm suspicious of omnis. However a long time ago I heard a pair of Sonabs working well in a brick cellar, that had been converted to a listening room. Despite my prejudices they worked better than any conventional box speaker, and thinking about it, they too were placed about a foot or so from a hard wall. Not sure if the low, vaulted brick ceiling had anything to do with it.

I'll put some more comments on my MBL review thread ... bearing in mind that this is my Infinity RS2.5 For Sale thread!
