It would be useful just for feeding the TV through it , I know some CD players have this option, ah well:(

Well it's not something I currently need as my TV is fed throught my novafidelity x40 but I'd like to go back to CDs at some point and don't really want a stand alone dac, thought it wouldnt be the end of the world

Your Nova has a Toslink input.
Connect your TV to it.
Hook the BDP up to the TV using HDMI, and use the TV as a switching hub into the Nova.

Oh yes I know, the novafidelity is my digital hub, but at some point I'd like to go back to a CD player , and so just wondered if a blu ray player with optical in was an option :)

It is, and I have to say I cant fault the sound and the convenience of the novafidelity, how ever I've never been keen on slot loading players, I know I'm being picky but what can you do:)

An option, but I'd like to bin the server altogether and go amp and CD player, it's like I'm going backwards I know, but I find the convenience of having everything accessible via tablet a bit boring
