Does anyone know how to open the y joint on these headphones?

I've got a loose connection and need to resolder.Hate the way the cable twists on these.

It is a molded joint,Its best to just order a new cord from Grado labs or get a black Dragon cord.What modle are they? that will solve the twisting problem and the sonic upgrade is worth it alone.I would sugest the upgade for the 325i and up.The stock cord is ok for the lower modles.

ahh right thought as much.I have the 125's.I listen through speakers probaly 80% of the time so don't need expensive cable.

would i just cut cable above the y joint and solder new cable to it or would i need to rewire the whole lot?

I would make a new cable my self useing 2 X10 foot peices of sheilded 2 strand 22 awg mic cable (maple shade) or better. I would use heat shrink and teflex sheathing to tie it all togeather into a first rate 1/4 plug like Nutrick. A nice inexpencive upgrade.
The hard part is CAREFULLY take the cans apart,You may need to use a heat gun on a low setting to melt the glue.

i still need my headphones re-cabled but have just not got round to it so im

wondering if their is anyone willing to do it for me for a fee of course.

What you might want to do is go register over at HeadFi (http://www.head-fi.org/) if you haven't already and put up a query in the DIY section and see if you can find someone there in the UK who'd be willing and able to do it for you.

No problem. Just figured it would help increase your odds. HeadFi's pretty much ground zero for the headphone world these days.
