hi
after over two month of work, between project, woodwork and paintjob, my basshorns got finished yesterday. it was quit hard work to bring them home. Each cabinet is sand filled, and weight is over 130 kilogram. 4 men were needed to transport them. I wanted the length of the horn not to bee too big, to avoid time delay problems. It has 1,5m length. Calculated Fc is 75hz at half space, with equalizing i am getting 50, 60hz in the room. This is about what my objective was, since i use a sub below them. I utilize a 12" JBL 2206h pro woofer, and a RAS300 plate amp to drive them.
Was the effort worth it ? Absolutely. first listening impressions were very impressive. Extreme controlled and fast bass, and dispersion in the room is much better, than it was with the 15" direct radiator in bassreflex cab, as i used before. Now i am awaiting to finish the satellite. That should take more about one month.
