I suppose you're going to tell us it won't change you. Just be mindful when out in yer truck of a higher than usual number of Daisy Dukes trying to cadge a lift - they may not all be after your body.

Had a marketing call from national lottery 2 days ago offering a special deal , i guess they must be trying to drum up business . well done on your win , although the charity i am involved in is trying to get some money from the lottery i avoid it as a money pit !!

I pay to be in a prize draw with St. Catherine's Hospice, I think it's about eight quid a month last time I looked. Well, about three months ago I won - a tenner! They take money off me by Direct Debit, but the prize came in the form of a cheque. They know that most people will not bother taking it to the bank to pay in (try finding a branch that hasn't closed down these days!) They're not daft are they?

I said to Mrs. P "I'm not letting this go, I want me prize, so I'm taking this to the bank". Three months later It has finally moved from the hall table to the bin.

I've got more than that down the back of my pants. Oh wait, it's just some bog roll that got stuck there.

Very handy [emoji6]

That is handy.

But in the last 12 months I've only had one customer pay by cheque. You can pay in at the Post Office, so I took the cheque there. The woman behind the counter told me I can pay in cash there, all I need is my debit card in their machine. But for cheques I needed a paying in slip. Not had a paying in book for donkey's. She said I could obtain a paying in slip from my bank, which sort of defeated the object of using post office.

So Saturday morning I drove into Preston (eleven miles away) to use RBS' main branch. Paid to use a car park. Walked the quarter mile to the bank. Felt sorry for homeless guy on pavement outside with dog-on-a-string, and bought him a pie and a brew from Greenhalgh's across the road.

No way I'm going through all that for a ten quid cheque.

Should have just given him the cheque and saved the bother [emoji23]

I told a man at the bank the same thing! He noticed a had a few dollars in my checking account, and wanted to know if I’d like to start a savings account. I asked what they were paying, he said, 0.005%. I laughed in the phone and told him I could find more money in the couch cushions! He took it well.

And congrats Al on your big win! Now to decide what to spend it on?
