A huge beast - 18x19 inches, but just a few inches high. 22Kg (30Kg boxed).

250wpc (8 ohms), this will drive anything!

PWO - v. good condition - a few slight marks.

£630 UK delivered by DHL (what I paid for it).
Awesome power and control. The bass is simply superb - deep, taut, textured.

[Swaps considered, of course!]

I take it you think it's cr@p then? :( :wah:

No, it's a very fine amp. I can perfectly imagine many folks simply loving this beast - you know, headbanging bass-heads like Marco!

... I've not heard bass power and control like this before.

The short time I had one at home (in between ATC's), it did delicate chamber music as well.

Good luck with the sale. It's one heck of an amp for £600 by anyone's standards and will run all day very cool as well, which should give the caps a long and reliable life..

Yep, thanks Dave, I'd characterise it as a fine allrounder with limitles power and simply superb bass.

Sorry Jerry. I only made my first comment because you had the later integrated for so long....

Hehehe.... Yup, another fine example of when AVI used to make proper hi-fi equipment before they sold their souls to the devil!

Good luck with the sale. This is a very fine SS amp, people, so someone grab it quick! :)

I had one of these big beasts for a few months & it really is big in all ways!

More outright grip than any other amp I've ever tried!

As Jerry says this thing will drive anything!

Good luck with the sale mate.

I should add that the full width front-plate size is the way the styling was conceived (the first S2000 product was an integrated amp of which only a handful were made) and I think it looks far better balanced than the mid-size stuff which dominated the range then.

Marco mate, I don't wish to be devils advocate, but there does seem to be a market out there for neat sized actives - it's just not "ours..." Hopefully, there'll be enough good used stuff out there to keep us occupied for decades to come, but I still think you could do with some ADM's (or even the tiny actives they're looking into) for your workshop (or secret area behind the "white door" :eyebrows: ...)

Lol - aye!

The thing is, AVI should've simply catered for the two markets without abandoning their roots: "ours" (as you say), and that of the undiscerning plebs ;)

There was room for both!

Marco.

P.S I've asked you a question on the Denon HA-500 thread in Past Masters (see post #70).

I really thought someone would have bought it by now. IT'S A GREAT UK MADE AMP FFS and for the sound and objective performance on offer, the £600 asking price is very fair..

Jerry, stick it on fleabay. The mono's fetch £400 still, so £600 for this utterly transparent yet friendly sounding powerhouse should be easily achievable, although we're drifting into summer now..

Thanks Dave - I have been truly amazed by the lack of interest! Someone else has said they'll buy it in September. :) Ah well, as you say, it is summer!

I'll keep it a while and see if I want to keep it longer term - it's just too good to give away for nowt!

Can't you use it in the time being, bearing in mind that you love to change your stuff. Won't it make a fair stab at driving your new speakers? It should be ok with 4 Ohm loading, although it wasn't designed for Apogee 1 Ohm style loads.

I'd say it'd make a fine bass amp in a bi-amp set-up. What's the gain Jerry do you know?

SOLD stp. :)

... which I am a bit sad about actually. It's a damn fine amp!
