The amp is in pretty good condition. It has the valve cage.

The amp has been serviced and recapped by David at AD Audio, where he replaced the on/off and the selector switches to Elna versions and also replaced the 8x EL84s with Genalex Gold Lions.

The amp has been excellent with my Tannoy Eatons, but surprisingly good with the Royd Minstrels, when there were standing in.

The phono stage sounds great, too.

I am after £900ono. It owes me quite a bit more than that after the work.

I'll get some photos up tonight.

I remember hearing one of these at a friend's house. A superb sounding amp.

Best of luck with the sale, great price.

A super little amp for someone this.

my wife has vetoed me buying back "the death trap". the heat and glowing bottles had her pooing her pants every time it was on!

the valves and the work by david was almost that asking price. if you can put up with a bit of surface rust, that amp is an absolute steal. i am trying to talk my mate into buying it.

Top tip if anyone wins it.

Take the tranny tops off and get them re-chromed. I had some done by a workshop that does stuff for motorcycles. They came out superbly and cost very little. Years ago now but still a valid course if action.

I was warned NOT to do this! Apparently the whole amp has to come apart to refit them...

Unlike Richie's, this one's had some serious meddling with electrolytic caps wired back to front, film caps placed in wrong place, and incorrect resistors fitted. Amazingly it still worked and sounded pretty good but hummed!

Obviously bought for the cage, not the amp.

They're not a bad amp, but the power output is too high, these burn through output power valves. In an A B comparison the earlier versions Audio Innovations Series 500 (3 output tap version) to my ears sound better, though the Unisis looks nicer.

Back in the early 90s I worked in a store where we sold both brands, and I owned a Unisis for awhile, I still have my Series 500.

I was warned NOT to do this! Apparently the whole amp has to come apart to refit them...Hi, it certainly looks like you have to take the circuit board and transformer mounts off to be able to get the chrome caps off. It's not too bad a job if your amps a keeper.

Incidentally the one in my workshop has a complete phono stage fitted, apart from valves, and apparently quite a few were shipped like that. So add back a wire link and two valves and you've got a free decent phono stage!
