View Full Version : DIY Tablette style monitor has 10 inch right angled port tube-is this weird?
As the title, a tablette sized diy build that I picked up on the Bay. Audax TW025M0 tweeter and SEAS 11F GX woofer. I assumed that what I could see at the end of the port was stuffing, but it's a right angled join. This means that the port tube goes in for 4 inches, then turns downwards for another 6. Any builders out there with advice/ info? Cheers in advance!

Photos?
The idea isn’t unique; ATC speakers have very similar ports and the ATC50 has a port that goes through ninety degrees internally.

How do they sound?
A 10" port is quite long and will cause port resonance, but how that sounds subjectively, I haven't got a clue because I try and keep ports at a maximum of 6". (EDIT: IIRC the bend may reduce resonanses - may be worth a Google)
Make sure any stuffing is kept well away from the port, because even a small amount will stop it working properly.
Thanks for the replies. Photo attached (hopefully). They're in open space, so no wall reinforcement. They sound great depending on the recording!
