Hi,

I found this site while searching for info on DACs. Decided to join as there seems to be a lot of info and helpful people here.

I'm an expat Aussie living in Scotland for the last 10 years or so, between a stint of 2 years in Germany.

I enjoy mostly rock music and have just installed a Squeezebox Duet and Beresford Caiman DAC into my hifi system. Wow is all I can say about the DAC. My music has never sounded so good.

The rest of my system consists of a Marantz CD63 KI, Marantz PM-66 KI amp, Cambridge Audio DAB300 tuner (now connected to Caiman too), Rega Planar 3 (Acrylic platter, replacement sub-platter, solid mount motor upgrade, RB300 arm with Goldring 1042 cartridge, CA 640p preamp and a set of Australian kit speakers (Jaycar JV60). These have Vifa drivers in a 2.5 setup and sound pretty good most days.

I'm just about to replace the crossovers with new versions (Mundorf caps/inductors with Kiwame/Mills resistors) and have a set of Morel tweeters to install as I've heard that silk dome tweeters sound better than metal dome (Vifa). These will be the first mods I've done to my hifi equipment but I plan to do a few more in future. I like to tinker and have just discovered DIY electronics.
