I have some straight-in Clipsals like the one on the Russ Andrews Signature mains cable I have for sale here
In glorious orange, like this

Any decent mains plug that meets safety standards will do the job, there's nothing 'hifi' about a mains plug. They're available from almost any hardware store such as Wilkos, The Range, B&Q, etc etc.

He'll know all this, like most do. Doesnt stop some of us going for something with maybe gold plated or silver plated pins, fancy fuse or even Furutech stamped on it - It's not a sin :)

I agree, it’s not a sin, but I don’t like to see people wasting their money...

I think the thing that pisses people off Martyn is the arrogance of people who definitively state things as being facts when it is just an opinion.I do note that you are classed as a senior member though so maybe that automatically means that you are senior in some way to most other mere mortals on here.
The OP has stated that the sourcing of a 'quality 13A mains plug' is now sorted. If he is happy with the item, then that is all that matters.

I am no way ‘senior’, but do have a scientific background and some of the outrageous claims made by audio suppliers ( no
names mentioned...) really upsets me.
Take cryogenically treated mains fuses. I have done work on cryogenics and have proof that treating a fuse by immersing it
in liquid nitrogen has no change that can be measured.
If someone, who has bought said fuse for a substantial amount of money, can hear an improvement then so be it.
Personally I would recommend people not to bother...

Personally I would recommend people not to bother...How long did you immerse the fuse and what temperature gradients did you use ?

As to the question of temperature gradients, I am unable to release any information as it relates to wider
research on ceramics and metals that are the intellectual property of the institution I worked for.

The thing being is this..Claims are made by both sides of the discussion. One plug is better than another plug..Strictly speaking, there is no real proof from either side, just the beholders ears tell them what sounds good to them, or not as the case may be..The OP asked for a decent mains plug and I dare to say it, but..He wanted advising on something he could/should buy, rather than something he shouldn't..Anyway my guess is that the OP is quite astute and guards his well earned with some gusto...and is now sorted with a decnt plug for his requirements...end result is a positive one...Al...;)
