Looking for some advice please.

My brother is starting out djing for people who love to dance.

He’s after a pair of active speakers, suitable for small events, 1-100 people.

He plays a variety of music and is after something with some clarity AND weight ie: not tinny

He’s on a limited budget, (can’t remember the amount) but has looked at Alto TS2 and/or 315s which he says appear to offer a lot of bang for buck.

He may invest in a 15 or 18inch sub, at a later date, to match.

He says he needs to act quick ie: Have something by Sunday.

Any ideas and / or links to suitable things, even anything you may have would be much appreciated :)

All I can suggest is a place called Gear4Music at their website. They do some great pro audio stuff.

Almost bought a pair of Adams A7X myself a few years back.

Would work to decent levels in a big room and would be easy to transport.

Gear4music sell them.

A friend manages regular folk nights with a few friends and for the club they purchased a column speaker. These have a bass driver at the bottom and something that looks like a line array stacked on top. With just one of these the sound was excellent and later on they bought a second unit which improved things even further but nothing was really lacking using just the one unit. I cannot remember the make but it did have Bluetooth and some programable EQ.

Another friend bought some Alto active speakers for small scale DJ duties but these easily became distorted when pushed and he was using them in his living room for a party, which wasn’t a large room. Not saying they are bad but maybe worth trying whatever he looks to buy in demo at the shop.

Thanks for all the advise and suggestions.

He's sorted now, managed to get a good deal on some new RCF HDL 26A monitors and seems very pleased
