Anybody have a song to see them through the red curtains? So far I've got ' this drinking will kill me' by Terrorvision, seems apt for me:)

'Ain't It Grand To Be Bloomin' Well Dead':

'Lately there's nothing but trouble, grief and strife
There's not much attraction about this bloomin' life
Last night I dreamt I was bloomin' well dead
As I went to the funeral, I bloomin' well said,
Look at the flowers, bloomin' great orchids
Ain't it grand, to be bloomin' well dead!
And look at the corfin, bloomin' great 'andles
Ain't it grand, to be bloomin' well dead!

I was so 'appy to think that I'd popped off
I said to a bloke with a nasty, 'acking cough
Look at the black 'earse, bloomin' great 'orses
Ain't it grand, to be bloomin' well dead!

Look at the bearers, all in their frock coats
Ain't it grand, to be bloomin' well dead!
And look at their top 'ats, polished with Guinness
Ain't it grand, to be bloomin' well dead!

Some people there were praying for me soul
I said, "It's the first time I've been off the dole"
Look at the mourners, bloomin' well sozzled
Ain't it grand, to be bloomin' well dead!
Look at the children, bloomin' excited
Ain't it grand, to be bloomin' well dead!

Look at the neighbours, bloomin' delighted
Ain't it grand, to be bloomin' well dead!
"Spend the insurance", I murmered, "For alack,
You know I shan't be with you going back"
Look at the Missus, bloomin' well laughing
Ain't it grand, to be bloomin' well dead!

Look at me Sister, bloomin new 'at on
Ain't it grand, to be bloomin' well dead!
And look at me Brother, bloomin' cigar on
Ain't it grand, to be bloomin' well dead!

We come from clay and we all go back they say
So don't 'eave a brick, it may be your Aunty May
Look at me Grandma, bloomin' great haybag
Ain't it grand, to be bloomin' well dead!'

Does it have to be a song? Will a piece of music be acceptable?

Go on then, as it's you:)

You sir, are a gentleman :)

Chopin's Nocturne no 20. Not very exciting or imaginative, but I like the thought of my family and friends sharing something I enjoy so much. And it's fitting for the occasion.

"I See Fire" Ed Sheeran (Lord of the Rings Soundtrack )

Seems appropriate [emoji23]

Honestly though I've changed my mind sooo many times on this, my youngest daughter will pick it, she's so I'm tune ( pardon the pun ) with my music she'll do me proud.

However if I was to pick songs right now, it'll no doubt change it's these.

I'll Be Your Lighthouse - Danny Angel and Bo Gallagher

Still In Love With You - Thin Lizzy

I'm pretty sure my wife would want to hear Follow You, Follow Me by Genesis as it's 'our' song but probably not appropriate at a funeral [emoji23]

Basically the first two are songs to speak my wife as I'm sure I'll go first.

'I'm on Fire' Bruce Springsteen or 'The Heat is on' by Glenn Frey. Assuming it's a cremation.

Otherwise 'Can You Dig It' by Mock Turtles :)

Whilst waiting to go through the red curtains, comfortable numb (Pink Floyd), whilst passing through the red curtains and being gently roasted (not spit), Highway to Hell by AC/DC.

Nothing too conventional.

I would like a medley of songs played including Crass Youre already dead mixing it up with more relaxing stuff like the Mills brothers Moonlight bay and finally going through to something by Joy Division...Atmosphere probably.

hell I might throw in a snippet of Bright side of life or some awful song to give them a laugh

Are there any lyrics saying nothing in the will for you :)

As I'm the oldest brother, Nick Cave's 'The First Born is Dead', although if they had to sit through the whole album, some of the mourners will be looking to join me.

That's a fantastic tune! Hugo Montenegro's version of Macarthur park if I remember correctly.

Definitely 'After The Ordeal' by Genesis. One of the most emotive songs I have ever had the pleasure of listening to.

Of the few funerals I have attended the songs played were:

'Freebird' by Lynyrd Skynyrd and 'Everybody Hurts' by REM.

I haven't thought about I would have played at my own funeral, maybe 'Songs for my Funeral' by Snakefarm. But no, it's just too depressing. I think something more celebratory such a New Orleans marching band.

Hmm, the tune that immediately comes to mind is the acoustic version of "There is no drinking after you're dead" by Paul Weller. I do like the idea of the Pearl & Dean theme though

The birdy song or The spice girls with wannabe. Either should set the right tone. :)

A few years back a close friend of mine who had a terminal illness swore me to secrecy that the last tune, as the curtains closed on him, would be Spirit in the Sky by Norman Greenbaum (https://youtu.be/AZQxH_8raCI).

Quite amusing when the tune came on at the end of the ceremony.

Pink Floyd, - Great Gig in the Sky

Even better if someone sang it live.

Seems a lot of Floyd on the list?

What might be quite fun to play at a funeral is the wedding march, just for that moment of confusion amongst the mourners.
