Just wondering if anyone here has heard the new (genuine) Onix amplifiers? - https://www.onixdna.com/ns

I like the styling and it looks very nicely made. However, the reviews I have read have been very lukewarm - which is rare these days when most reviews are just different levels of rave!

What’s your system atm Shane...and what’s not doin’ it for you mate?
Direct approach always works best!

Important to realise that it’s taken a lot of us years to get our systems to where that are now...and a lot of us (me included!) can’t remember if what we had before was really that much worse! :)
Lots of threads on here and elsewhere about guys getting rid of their multi box Naim stacks for Rasberry Pi setups.

Thats gotta mean something.
All about the music...not the equipment.

Just sayin.

Yes, there is a lot of ‘emperors new clothes’ choices in this hobby.

My system is fine. I'm just curious, that's all.

Can I ask what you are currently using Shane ?

I think you mentioned some interest in trying the Naim SN/2 ? or XS2? both of which I'd recommend...

System set up is typed in my profile. It's budget level, but decent!

So that's Denon DCD-710AE with a Denon PMA-710AE along with Dali Spektor 1's using Van Damme cables ?

It's certainly 'budget level' I guess but if it sounds ok that's all that matters

So are you still thinking about trying out a Naim amp ?

Not as much anymore. The SN2 still pops in mind sometimes. If I do source a SN2. It wouldn't be new though, most likely second hand. I refuse to pay new RRP for one!

I'd recommend the SN2 Shane, it's a lovely amp and if wasn't for the Maggies then I'd be keeping it.. but the XS2 is also very good, I've owned both

Yes my SN2 is the DR version Shane... I'm also using the Hi Cap DR with it to good effect..

I’ve seen several positive reviews too, like on HiFi Answers. Apparently there was a legal dispute too where a review amp wasn’t returned by a magazine.

Isn’t ‘HI Fi Answers’, as it is now, nothing to do with the previous magazine of the same name? It now seems to be a purely ‘marketing’ website. I’m afraid I wouldn’t attribute much credibility to any reviews coming from them.

However, I admit that I don’t follow the audio press very closely and perhaps the DNA amp has, more recently, received some good reviews. I’ve nothing against this amp but the first couple of reviews I read were surprisingly damning in their faint praise.
