DIY Mains Cables

I've been told that ML responds well to good mains cables so thought I'd make my own... like you do..;)

I'm currently using the Naim power cables with both the ML's but I've ordered the following items:

Furutech FP-S022N Alpha Nano-OFC Cable:

Have a look at the MK Safety plug...?

When I was Diy’ing mains cables these were my preference.
Better internal connections than the tough plug, able to take thicker cable and clamp it tighter.

The MS-HD plugs will safely take very thick cable and are thoughtfully designed.

Thanks for that Mark... I did look at those but thought the MK Silver looked just as good for less... if you rate the MS-HD I'm willing to go that route though..

The connections, strain relief and cable routing are much better on the MS-HD than the MK. The MK is a good plug but not suited to thick cables IMO.

Silver is soft, and oxidises readily, turning blue-black.

I have to agree with Mark. The MS-HD plugs are much easier to wire up especially when using thick cables.

Another here for the MS Audio plugs . They're very good . If the cable is relatively thick you may have a problem getting them to fit into the MK plugs Bev . The MS Audio plugs will accept a much thicker cable as Mark says .

More importantly I think the pins are made from solid copper and then highly polished. Better than silver plated brasS.

Looking at what I think is the MS Audio site, there appears to be a choice between the MS-328 (http://www.mshdpower.com/products_p.html?category=ep&class=PowerPlug&oem=1&xml=328&model=MS-328) and the MS-328G (http://www.mshdpower.com/products_p.html?category=ep&class=PowerPlug&oem=1&xml=328g&model=MS-328G). The difference appearing to be that the G variant has gold plated elements throughout. So, is that additional gold worth the extra cost (almost double (https://www.audioemotion.co.uk/ms-hd-power-products-548-c.asp))?

I'm using 1 of the silver plated MS-HD plugs and they are very good and do take larger cables, however, the rest of my plugs are Furutech, imho the best mains plug you can buy..

The Furutech FP-S022N mains cable is approximately 12.9mm overall thickness so it's reasonably chunky I guess.. I may well go for the MS-HD's instead of the MK one.. thanks for the info ;)

MS HD plugs come along regularly on eScum if your patient, you dont have to pay double.
