The devil makes work for idle hands.......
So i set about a little idea i had brewing,to upgrade the signal pins in my RCA plugs to silver tube.
https://www.cooksongold.com/Tube/Sterling-Silver-Tube,-Ref-4,-------Outside-Diameter-3.5mm,------------Inside-Diameter-2.6mm,-0.45mm-Wall-Thickness-prcode-RSA-004

Once the tube arrived it was just a matter of cutting to the required length and filing down from 3.5mm to 3.25mm to fit.
Some sanding and a good polish with t-cut and there you go. :)

Nicely done. How have you fastened the pin in place?

They just press into place like the originals using an interference fit

How's about a step by step guide Jamie. I'm sure this will be of interest to a great many of us.

ok no problems,
first remove the old pin from the plugs,MS star line ones are the easiest as they just press out,i used a small vice to do this.
next cut the silver tube to size and put it in a drill,on slow speed carefully file down the tube from 3.5mm to 3.30.you want to end up with 3.25. when you reach 3.30 turn the tube around and do the side that was in the chuck.it helps to have a female rca socket at hand to check your fit as you file.

next you want to remove the file marks,i went from 120 grit down to 1000 using progressively finer grades of sand paper and wet & dry. lastly finish off with t-cut,press the new pin back in the plug, super glue could be used if you wish but i found them to be a tight fit. bingo you now have some solid silver rca plugs.
