For sale is my Exposure Super 8. It has a few marks and scuffs as you can see from the pictures, but it's in full working order. This is a great little amp but I find my 'Camp Amp' to be a little smoother on the ears. Just a reminder - the Exposure needs the right kind of speaker cable to work properly.

I'm looking for £300, plus delivery or cash on collection from Oxford.

excuse me but it looks to be a simple VIII, not a 'Super' one - the latter has this written right next to the 'VIII' just like in here> https://photobucket.com/gallery/user/alfie2902/media/cGF0aDovSU1HXzI5MjAuanBn/?searchTerm=exposure%20super%20viii&page=1

There seem to be several versions of the amp, with different power switches and cases. It was sold to me as a Super VIII and has an S in the serial number, but that's all I can really say to confirm it. I found this on Exposure's site though: https://www.exposurehifi.com/images/pdf/testupload/Classic_IV_4VI_6_VII_7_VIII_8_IX_9_XI_11_XII_12_XI V_14_-_Pre_Amplifiers_Power_Amplifiers__Power_Supplies.p df

THE STANDARD EIGHT (VIII)This is the first power amplifier in the range, but still offers the same circuit topology found in the top*of*the*rangeFour Dual Regulated. The STANDARD EIGHT utilises a power supply based on a 250VA custom made mains transformer. This is split intotwo separate windings, one of 170VA which supplies the power amp, and one of 80VA for the pre*amplifier, allowingit to be used with a Seven pre*amplifier without an external power supply unit. The Seven/Eight makes for aninexpensive entry into EXPOSURE'S extensive range of pre/power amplifiers. It is also a combination which will beatall price competitors hands down, yet may be easily upgraded by addition of an EXPOSURE Six preamplifier powersupply.

THE SUPER EIGHT (VIII)The SUPER EIGHT differs from the Standard Eight in several respects. The power supply has separate rectificationand smoothing, improving channel separation . on and dynamic capabilities. The 250VA mains transformer is custombuilt, with separate windings for each channel but makes no provision to supply a pre*amplifier. This increases overallperformance and sound quality. These changes give an increase in overall output to 55 watts into 8 ohms with transientperformance in excess of 225VA, compared to the Standard Eight's 50 watts/150VA

That matches the rear configuration of the amp.

IIRC the Super 8 won’t power the matching preamp directly, where as the Standard 8 will.

Given this one fits the former category I would venture it’s a Super 8. I have a similar vintage Standard 8 & the preamp power socket is definitely functioning.

Sorry I just realised I’ve “mansplained” the content of the previous post. That’s what you get when you’re typing whilst listening to the cricket.

to the OP, I knew the difference - however, I haven't seen a Super VIII in a 'simple' VIII case, but have seen the latter even inside w/o the pre power output that was removed....
