Can only be described as stunning! SL1210 MK5g in Excellent Condition - Cosmetically A1.
Up there with the best of the highly speced / modded Technics SL12XX's - The finish on the MK5G's is in my opinion the best of the 12XX
I am the only ever owner, bought brand new, I have cherished and spent a shed load of money on my beloved Techie from day one, to get it to 'ultimate' 1210 status.
It has had all the best and proper modifications lavished on it:
- MIKE NEW BEARING, BASEPLATE & ETP PLATTER – This little lot alone has cost me £1200
- EBONY ARMBOARD - Speedy Steve (Magna Audio)
- MICRO SEIKI MA-202 Tonearm - Phonomac stripped, overhauled and improved - re-wired, hybrid ceramic bearings. On the fly vta. This tonearm is superb and silky smooth.
- Black Isonoe Isolation feet - As new (£125)
- Paul Hynes SR7EHD External Power Supply + DC7CXL fine silver lead with Jaeger low impedance connector + regulator modules (pushing £1K this lot, superb ultimate power supply) – Not sure of the exact amount I paid for this bundle of treats but would have been around a grand.
Comes with Mark Grants excellent DSP 2.5 power lead.
Overall I would rate this stunning TT 8.5 /10 only because the stop/start button is a bit temperamental once the deck is warmed up. I suspect either a dry joint or a new stop start switch. Has never bothered me though as I just nudge the platter if needs be.
Secondly and finally, some of the ETP platters were not machined absolutely perfect 100% flat. Mine I have measured deviates on ration by about a mere 1mm but I mention in the spirit of good and genuine sale.
Sonically the ETP is probably the best single upgrade I have on this deck. It brought a rightness to the presentation that brought all the other upgrades together and took things to a whole new level - well documented by myself on this forum. I went for the non record label recess version of the ETP which means you have the option to use any mat you so choose. I always had superb results with the stock softer 3mm Technics platter which the deck will come with.
I actually cant believe I'm moving this deck on, It was always meant to be my last deck, but as with many a audiophool, I've decided to scratch an itch and see if I can make another project happen.
Every thing in the pictures will be included (except headshell and cartridge), you'll only need to supply your own plugs, on the end of the power leads :)
You’ll also get the bespoke dust cover seen in the pics AND the original Technics dust cover with original Technics brackets – both covers in lovely order.
I'm asking £2250 firm, which I think is very reasonable, considering all the work done and what you're getting.
PayPal friends / family or gift please
This is a very rare opportunity - 1210's of this calibre seldom come up.
Collection only from London area – I don’t have suitable boxes and wouldn’t even consider risking this stuf with Mr Courier White van man  :)
