Sorry to hear about your data loss.Cloud storage is usually pretty safe. They gave backups and backups of backups.. Usually.
I back my android to Google and flikr.

How did they do that? A software update that wiped storage?No, they were investigating a fault on my phone and created a backup. They then reset my phone and it was empty lol

forgot to back up media.. :doh: if its android sign up for google photos. if you have a google account its easy. then set it to back up everything pic wise you take.. you can then delete the crap later.

Did you not back your contacts up to your Google account?
That's where all my contacts are.

That's where all my contacts are.I didn't know about it. Its all backed up now and I've managed to finally get my contacts back off a back up from my laptop I did ages ago. Missing a few but in the main I am back up and running

It's well worth opening a Google account and backing all your contacts to it.
If your phone has to be defaulted you just have enter your account details and it will populate your address book automatically.

I'm pleased that you got the majority of contacts back from one of your local backups.

Marco.It's all sorted now Marco. Found an old backup on my laptop so I was only missing a couple of numbers. Those numbers are now with me so it's all good.

However, today my wife dropped her phone and smashed it to bits. Seems to be the time of year lol
