Sent from my CLT-L09 using TapatalkI am presuming it's for volume control via Volumio but I haven't checked it out yet.

Hi Oli

There is a lot of upgrade potential in that box, you could wring some very pleasing performance out of that one :)

What's the knob for?

The knob is for HW volume control. If you use headphones this is very convinient.

If you just want to control the volume remotely you can still do that through the SW volume control in volumio or other operating system. In this case you would turn the knob fully clockwise to set the HW volume control to 0dB.

You can also use a combination of HW and SW volume control but I don't know why you would.

The short answer is yes.

The output voltage on XLR is 5Vrms at 0dBFS and 2.5Vrms on the RCA.

So I would say in 99.9% of cases a pre-amp will not be needed and would just be an additional component adding noise to the system.

Oh OK I see what you mean. Looks a decent product and it would be on my shortlist if I didn't have a digione. Thanks for the info
