Some of those 'open plan' valve amps look deadly. I trust Will and company took sensible precautions when fault finding, i.e. discharge the capacitors and wear thick rubber gloves!

Some interesting looking kit there.

Barry,these people have a great deal of experience,so the stuff may look dangerous (and it is!) but precautions are taken.Almost everyone who comes has been coming for years,so are well aware of the hazards and exhibit appropriate respect for the kit.Anyone new is made aware of what not to do and keep away from!

John,lots of highlights-meeting up with all the lads again is a highlight in itself.As for sounds,new this time was Nick's mad scientist creation using 100TH Eimac valves.Sounded wonderful.Another lovely amp was Mike H's 801.Lovely smooth,airy and involving sound that you could listen all day to.There was a new member of the AT forum there,a young lad of 16 who'd built a chip amp and his own speakers (the blue ones in the first photo) and it sounded superb given how little he'd had to spend.He'll go far! We sent him away with most of the bits to build a 6EM7 amp.No doubt it'll be shown at the next meet.

Also Will's OB's with the 70-odd year-old field-coil speakers(!).Shows they've known how to make great speakers for a very long time!

Yes it was,at least by those interested in digital.A lot of people who attend are more into vinyl.The high rez music was enjoyed though.

Agreed. I wish I could go to things like this :( It would broaden my experience no end.
