Actually have not bought anything yet so just joining up for advise.

Based in Hong Kong with a music taste from Alternative - Rock - Classical.

Welcome to AoS. I assume that your forum name is a contraction of 'corby' and 'hk', given your location. What is your real name? - we like to be on a first name basis here on AoS; it makes for a friendlier forum.

No need to have bought anything 'hi-fi' to join, but you do mention that you have joined for advice. For us to be able to help you, ideally we need to know what aspects of sound reproduction are important to you, what form of software are you pursuing and what are your tastes in music?

Anyway the 'bottom line' is as Alex has suggested: "don't rush into anything, and take your time to seek advice and do some research - good luck, and enjoy - remember, this is all supposed to be fun".
