Hi
Does this have any history of being calibrated?
Cheers Chris

It was calibrated when I first had it but that was a few years back now and tbh I'll be buggered if I can find any documents etc. I'd recommend that the buyer calibrates it before use.
Oh - that's a splendid piece of kit. We had one where I worked. Big beautiful and British. :)
Anyone who designs, or is a serious user of valve gear should buy it.
I've just seen my two panal AVO as my wife was going through the cupboards.
I should test my triodes. For no reason but why not? It does B7 and UX4 sockets.
This machine is in another league to my AVO, though.

It's getting more tempting :D

Crazy price, nowadays these usually go for £750 plus...

Generally at that price they would have some sort of statement that they are fully working, and proof of recent calibration.
That's not to infer that this one isn't 100% operational :)

I’m presuming this is fully operational... calibration can always be arranged by a specialist. Assuming it is fully working and only needs calibrated, £750 plus is still the standard online...

Where do you find these specialists and how much do they charge. Assuming parts are on top.

'Specialist' is maybe too big a word: there are numerous engineers on the UK Vintage Radio and Restoration forum who woud probably be willing to help. One of them calibrated my AVO 160CT... Price will depend on parts, time needed etc.

Could anyone recommend one around the Stansted Airport area?

Those who might be tempted by the AVO’s price as-is would do well to get in quickly before I get it calibrated and therefore charge a lot more for it!

Agreed. Assuming this works, with no issues other than calibration (can you confirm??) the asking price is seriously under the going rate...

I for one would payer a higher price if it was fully calibrated and any suspect parts such as capacitors replaced.

Don’t forget to fit a shorting wire across the meter terminals for transportation, these are very delicate and expensive to repair or replace.
I know a retired ex Avo tech based in Dover done both my AVO mk3 @ AVO 160
